This also doesn't take into account the CO2 possibly generated to produce the electricity

You took this from an article entitled "No, Tesla Batteries Are Not a Global Warming Disaster?"

It just comes right out of the outlet. No CO2, doesn't even have an odor.

You think battery production is a competely green process?

This reminds me of something I read about reusable grocery bags.

They use like 15x more energy or material to produce vs a plastic grocery bag

That means you have to use it 15x before making any net impact on the environment.

Yes. It shows that even the true believers have to admit there are negative environmental impacts due to battery production.

The people I know who drive Teslas don't do so because they give a crap about the carbon footprint. They do it because the cars are bad arse.

Exactly. The "pollution" angle is nothing more than a way to get gov. money.

You disagree with the article presented? Prove your point if so.

Perhaps you could follow the other one's lead and just post laughing emojis.

So I have to use a reusable grocery bag 15 times before any positive effect on the environment happens? I mean, that isn't that hard to do.

Why wouldn't I? Everyone has known for years that producing lithium batteries suitable for electric automobiles has significant impacts on the environment.

Read the entire thing.

quote:

Tesla has long committed to making its Gigafactory carbon-neutral, and it appears to be working toward that goal.

quote:

That means that for the Tesla batteries, the CO2 emissions payback is halved.

quote:

We saw the same debate play out a few years ago when researchers showed that if you charge a car from a coal-fired grid, your emissions reductions are limited. While that’s certainly true, the grid is getting cleaner over time. Today you could charge your Tesla from your home solar system, or -- soon -- from Tesla’s all-solar Supercharger stations.

quote:

It should also highlight, yet again, that as transportation becomes increasingly electrified, a clean and reliable grid is more important than ever. But it doesn’t give you an excuse not to buy a Tesla.
