I don't understand how the commies dont get this
Commies believe everyone should live according to their own morals and the government should make decisions based on their own preference.

When a city creates an law/ordinance to prohibit smoking in certain areas that is enforceable by fine, it is in fact illegal to do so in those areas.
Which it shouldn't be, which is my arguement.

Mandeville to consider banning smoking in bars
Good. Smokers are the stupidest, trashiest, most inconsiderate people on earth. They can pump toxins into their lungs on their own property

This isn't "over regulation". The general public has been behind anti smoking measures for years, even in red states.
I totally agree and the stats back that up and I've said this exact thing in this thread a couple times. So why does the government need to ban it? Seems like the market will do the job for you without harming the business atmosphere and completely eliminating a niche market.

I have a feeling you're just playing devil's advocate and don't really believe anything you're posting

And now we get to the nuts of the issue. This isn't about public health at all (because 2nd hand smoke is indeed total bull shite), it's about people like you who want control and choice taken from the private bar owner because an activity deeply offends you, most likely because of some deep-seated personal shite if you really feel that negatively about smokers.

Hell yeah it is.

Doesn't mean crap. Red states have some of the strictest drinking regulations as well.

It's always been the issue. It's about delicate sensibilities.

I'm missing part of a lung and smoke really fricks me up.
That being said, screw the government taking the rights of business owners.

Awesome. Private businesses getting told what to do pertaining to a legal activity in their own business. Limited government south FTW
We can't let the market dictate whether a ban is a smart decision on prohibiting smoking in their own establishment.

cities & states banning smoking in bars is basically government virtue signaling.

Also, I'm about 80% libertarian but this is one issue where I don't care about "rights." Non smokers have rights too.
Same here. You want to smoke, take your arse outside.
Always been a no brainer to me. The amount of stench one cig puts out and the area it can cover is ridiculous.
Every place will get a patio. The world will keep spinning. Bar regulars will protest for about a week. They will then recall whatever reasons they have for hanging out in bars and go back and pout and smoke outside.

I've never smoked and if I want to avoid being around it I simply won't go to those bars that allow it. It's amazingly easy to avoid it without government's help.

Where is this constitutionally protected "right" to smoke in bars?
Such a 1L question, mate.

Smoking is regulated. Same as drinking. You can't just serve alcohol in a private business without some government say so.
