I don't expect the disingenuous frick to actually respond. He never does.

I already know the correct answer of course, and here's a hint: they're not cutting VA benefits, and there has been no discussion of doing so.

Yes, I agree. They need to go after these companies who abuse the system, charging veterans a ton of money, to make up claims. The VFW has been begging for this to happen.

The senate witness yesterday representing an overhaul wants to eliminate VA disability for anyone not rated over 60% or those who never served in a combat role. So if someone is a flight line worker and develops hearing problems and COPD from the fumes present, he’s shite out of luck as those service connected disabilities will not total up to 60% rating.

Having gone through the process myself, the VA is very thorough. You have to provide a ton of documentation showing history of a condition, written statements tying it to an incident in service, go through a VA medical exam, and, in most cases, have a doctor write and sign a nexus letter stating the condition is more likely than not service connected. The problem is the nexus letter…there are companies selling bullshite nexus letters with no fear of losing medical licenses.

The veteran community wants these nexus mills shutdown as bad as anyone else….they’re allowing fraudulent claims to hurt a program designed for those who were actually impacted by their service. Get rid of them and you cutoff fricking admin people claiming PTSD.

The suggestion is to throw the baby out with the bathwater instead of making obvious reforms.

Is your Google broken? Are you not a part of any veteran community? You should know this as a serviceman.

Provide the fricking link, or shut the frick up. YOU made the claim. It's up to YOU to back it up.

But we all know you're full of shite.

Why are you unable or unwilling to provide a link to back up your assertion?

Because you’re acting like a petulant child…calling me a “frick” instead of simply googling something you have a vested interest in knowing about. You’re not here to discuss, you’re here to attack the messenger. Go frick yourself dude…Google it or don’t. Watch the hearing or don’t. I don’t really care.

So you won't provide any evidence to back up your assertion.

Check.

Never change.

I don't know who is getting paid what and the shutdown doesn't really impact me, but I saw this morning that yesterday that a vote was held, no one reached an agreement and by the end of the work day Washington DC was a ghost town because they had all flown back home.. I guess for the weekend?

I bet if those sons a bitched were told they couldn't leave until they came to an agreement, they would have the government opened back up within an hour. They sit around and blame each other and they still get paid.

What I want to know is, how do they all live well beyond what the job pays? What other job is there where the perks are well beyond what the job pays?

https://www.legion.org/information-center/news/veterans-benefits/2025/october/whats-affected-by-the-government-shutdown

quote:

Those U.S. citizens who collect Social Security – including retirees, disabled Americans and the dependents of deceased workers – won’t see an interruption in their monthly payments during the shutdown. Food assistance programs will continue until they run out of funds.

While U.S. military operations will continue during a shutdown, U.S. servicemembers will miss at least one paycheck if a budget deal isn’t in place by Oct. 15. A shutdown also will force the furlough of U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) civilians, including those in public affairs and community outreach personnel, financial management personnel and acquisition personnel.

For the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the department estimates that 97 percent of its employee will continue to work during a shutdown. VA benefits will continue to be processed and delivered, including compensation, pension, education and housing benefits. However, VA benefits regional offices are closed.

VA medical centers, outpatient clinics and Vet Centers remain open.

quote:

Burials will continue at VA national cemeteries. Applications for headstones, markers, and burial benefits processing will continue.

quote:

Call Centers: VA’s primary call center (1-800-MyVA411) and the Veterans Crisis Line (Dial 988, Press 1) will remain open 24/7. The VA Benefit Hotline (1-800-827-1000) will be available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET.

Suicide prevention programs, homelessness services, and caregiver support will continue.

per census.gov, 12.3% of the US population receives SNAP benefits. the military has a higher SNAP usage than the overall population?

Dude, I’m not talking about the shutdown. I’m talking about going after VA benefits writ large. There was a senate hearing yesterday.

There should be no rule changes, workarounds, or new legislation. Pay no one.

Doing otherwise allows our useless fricking Congress off the hook for one of the more untenable aspects of this shutdown for them. Don't do it.
