And fwiw, the stems on broccoli are delicious, but you have to peel them before you cook them. Peeled, steamed broccoli stems are wonderful

the broccoli. I understand that she paid for what she walked out with, but it was less weight upon checkout, and what she left in the store isn't worth anything.
I mean, if I go and squirt all the ketchup in the store onto the floor and leave, I didn't technically steal anything b/c I left with nothing. but I left a product that they paid for worthless. not sure what you would call it, but theft seems appropriate. vandalism maybe?

Next time we go shopping I’m going tell my wife that we need to peel all the oranges, lemons and potatoes before we pay.

I take the shredded end slices of bread out my loaf before i purchase my loaves as well. Not gonna pay for those worthless slices.

If you pay by the lb there’s nothing wrong with this. I do the same thing with bananas if they only have huge bunches. Peel off 4 or 5 and leave the rest.
It’d be easier to just plan meals around what you buy like a normal person but to each his own.
ETA: never mind, scratch that, I re-read the article. Yeah, that’s not ethical at least, and potentially theft. I know it’s not common, but the broccoli stems are just as good eatin as the florets. I prefer them actually.
