We were contemplating moving to Mt.P but it had the suburbia feel and wasn't for us. We seriously considered Georgetown. But in the end came back to Florida because of the weather and the beaches and gulf. Good Luck.

Very nice. My cousin and her family have lived there for years.

I've lived in Mount Pleasant for a while. It really is a great area, but it's rapidly changing.

Like any other hot market, the real estate prices are stupid.

It has also lost its charm. The overdevelopment is out of control as land is being cleared left and right to stuff in new strip malls and cookie cutter homes. Traffic is a major bitch as more and more license plates from Massachusetts and New Jersey are overcrowding everything.

Sadly, the entire Charleston area is gone. John's Island is also going the way of Mount Pleasant, and the urban expansion kiss of death will soon take Awendaw.

I was in Mount Pleasant, last weekend. Beautiful with nice people. Housing is very expensive, and still have to deal with flooding and hurricanes.

Not really. Everything there either survived Hugo or was built to much higher standards after the fact. Mt Pleasant drainage is only a problem on Spring tides which only last a few hours and if a major rain event happens to coincide with that atypical tide phase. When I lived there, took two direct hits from named tropical storms, never had a flooding problem.

ETA- downtown Charleston is a different subject, yes they have frequent flooding problems similar to Nola.

Grew up there. Was and still is a near-perfect place to raise a family.

I went deep sea fishing out of Shem Creek a few years back. It seemed like a decent place, there were some pretty cool bars along the creek front and everyone seemed pretty chill

Yes, yes, yes.
We have a place on the beach a couple of miles from Mt. Pleasant. Nice town, growing like crazy.

The beaches are less crowded than Miami.

OP, I’msure you are good baw and we would all enjoy having a beer together.

Native South Carolinians, if we were all honest, don’t want outsiders moving here and diluting our heritage. Just the way it is.
