there are a good bit of former louisianians up that way.

If there’s one thing I know it’s you can find Louisiana ex Pats just about anywhere you go in America.

The further away from Louisiana the fewer you see but they are everywhere!

Very nice Appalachian small, town. Near Gatlinburg and SMNP. There's a cool bookstore called Our Place Books, Coffee & Unique Gifts. I used spend an hour or two browsing books, etc when we'd visit that area.

Do not live in Newport.

Lots of Mountain View’s in that area.

I think you’ll love it. My sister lives east of Nashville. They do seem to get every storm that comes through north Louisiana and the remants of every hurricane that hits anywhere. But , it’s a great place to live.

Beautiful country. Cosby is pretty small, but you’ll be near Newport, and Knoxville isn’t far away.

If you like hiking, you’re in for a treat. Cosby sits at the foot of Mount Cammerer. There’s a western style fire tower at the top of the mountain and the views are sublime. I hiked up there on an October day about four years ago and there was snow halfway to the top. The combination of fall foliage and snow was incredibly neat.

You’re making a good move

Max Patch is gorgeous. Hot Springs was devastated by flooding from Hurricane Helene. I think the resort and hot springs are partially reopened, not sure about the businesses on main.

Yeah I wasn't thinking about Helen. I was always told that about 1/3 of the population of Hot Springs had hiked the App Trail and liked the town so much they moved there after leaving the Trail.

It's very likely I will retire in the area between Crosby and Damascus VA.

Cosby has a population of 800 people. Not really sure what you do for work, but that doesn’t sound like much of an upgrade over Louisiana. And to be honest, the scenery in Tennessee is a bit overrated. It has nothing on Montana.

He's on the good side if Gatlinburg, so he won't have to deal with the traffic getting there

get a good awd vehicle.

Yes. Was in the Ozark mountains this past summer. Those mountain roads don’t frick around. If that part of Tennessee is similar?? I never saw a cop pulling people over or a DUI checkpoint. Speeding and DUI just works itself out naturally in those mountains and hills I guess.

It’s not. Even the petros in downtown Knoxville closed. There was a time when a place like Petros could survive here, and it’s been gone for a while. I’m from Knoxville, lived in Nashville for about a decade, and moved back. The food scene here is insanely better than like 2010
