Does your little man have all that riding gear as in the pic? Not judging, just thinking back and picturing 0.00% of us in even a helmet and in shorts and flip flops if we needed to bug out to the trails on a seconds notice

I miss his grand entry jumps he did.

I rode mx tracks for a few years and then started racing cross country. If you want an endurance exercise, cross country will do it for you. I wore a heart rate monitor and my heartrate averaged 190 amd peaked at 205. Lowest it got was 180. I thought my hrm was broken.

It took me a season of racing before I could actually finish a race and maybe only 2 races did I feel like I wanted the race to be longer in 6 or 7 seasons of racing.

Edit, not sure what I did above. Fat fingers, small keyboard.

Yup, caught a great sale at Rocky Mountain. Picked up some nice gear and glad I did. It rained every Friday after Christmas so all the tracks were slick on the following Saturday. Dude must've ate it 50 times. But, he brushed himself off and got right back after it. He really does have a blast. Tons of kids out there, too. I had no idea how popular it was.

My old man wouldve had me mow grass for ten years to afford my own dirtbike, I was lucky to save enough for a BMX bike.

Man, that's freaking awesome. I'm 55 and I guarantee every guy reading who had anything from a moped to a souped up wildcat 250R 40+ years ago remembers it like yesterday. Your son will too. He'll never ever forget it. Go ride on a 125 with him. It will be a blast

I want to try the trails over near Forest Hills. Not exactly endurance racing, but it looks fun.

My uncle used to race super cross. Those guys are just built different. TV doesn’t do those jumps any justice. Walking the track with him prerace was one of the things that made me fall in love with all things racing.

No, no it doesnt! I watched the experts (red flag) and just sat there scratching my head. Just launching into the air. Thing of beauty. But certifiable. Lol

My BIL had that exact 250R lol. I had a TRX125 4 wheel pig. That 250 was a beast in the 80s

3 wheeler accidents represented a majority of the casts I signed in elementary school, back when signing casts was the cool kid thing to do!

They’re absolutely insane. I remember when they came through Nola for a race at the dome and I went down to see them and had to drive him to Charity to get fluid drained from his elbow a couple hours before the race. He basically lived in an RV for most of the year.

Anyone here remember the magazine Dirt Wheels? The uber Bible of off road ATV in the 80's?

I had that exact same bike back in the 90s. I traded a 250x that was using a little oil for it. He said that he replaced the clutch but it wouldn't pull. Bike would run and take gear but wouldn't pull.

I pulled the clutch cover and the moron had put all of the clutch steels together and all of the clutch disks together. I replaced them the right way and then hoooly shite. Easy third gear wheelies. I hate I friken sold it.

I have been racing dirt bikes my entire life. It just takes practice and time on the bike to get a good feel.
