You are exactly right, probably not enough space between where the wall is and where the tile ends. To totally fix this, I would think you are going to have to totally re do the floors. Or just say frick it, if none of the tiles are cracked, and just keep your house warmer on really cold nights.

I'm all ears, if there isn't enough space, this will happen every super cold night, if it isn't warm enough. No where for the tiles to expand or move

That is too bad. Not very clutch. All that was needed was a ground ball on the infield and the run would have scored...
I was in Floor & Decor the other day and I can tell you, there's just no commitment to teaching proper base-running or infield play there anymore.

You gonna put it on ebay for 10x the price you paid for it?

Clearly it was the Visqueen that failed IMO. Even if you are on pier and beam, it was still the Visqueen.

May indicate some moisture under the tile froze and expanded.
This. Moisture can collect under tile due to evaporation or seepage (tile isn't completely waterproof), add the sudden temperature change with this cold snap and expansion of the tile occurs. Also add the possibility the tile may have not been spaced properly when installed, they can pop up.

Holy sh!t... I'm so glad to see I'm not alone! This exact same thing happened to me a few weeks ago when it was really cold.
It was about 4:00am and I heard this crashing sound that sounded like something fell off the wall. It kept happening every 10 minutes or so. I was convinced I was under attack by an intruder. Then finally figured out it was the tiles popping up. Same thing, none of them cracked, just popped up and were loose. I thought maybe it was a water leak, or my foundation was cracking. I called my insurance company, they sent out an adjuster who showed me how the floors were grouted all the way to the base boards, and they didn't leave an expansion gap. So when the house expanded or contracted from the cold weather, it caused them to pop. Even though they are original tiles, and the house is 20 years old, it just happened to be the perfect storm that morning.
He then proceeded to tell me that the cause of this issue was "Improper Installation" which of course insurance doesn't pay for. So hope you got some cash saved up.

I just opened an interior door, and it rubbed a tile. That never happened there before. You can see that it is raised up.
Gentle heating pad has been applied to the affected area.

it's the extended cold weather. we do not build houses the same way in all the different climates we have in the USA.

OP must be a woman. Every man knows this.
ETA: could also be one of those gender pronouns, I don’t want to discriminate.
