It's idiotic to ignore the fact that we've passed several gun laws/restrictions over the years.

We quite literally HAVE been changing things and it doesn't seem to be working. It's quite possible blame is being placed on the wrong thing...

Totally fair point.

Some sources are saying the shooter was a girl named Clara Sorrenti.

This person just googling her appears to be a YouTube star and activist. There’s an account belonging to a “Clara Sorrenti” @keffals on twitter. The bio reads that she/he is a trans & socialist. They also have some open tweets acknowledging drug issues and mental issues and seeking treatment..

Again, this is just me digging and maybe I’m digging in the wrong corner but that seems kinda plausible.

That points to firearms not being the issue. So any call to "ban assault weapons" is ignoring the root cause. I have my opinions on what that is, as do others.

Let's try this again. What is your opinion on the root cause?

CNN has the ticker on the bottom reading…Nashville shooter identified as 28 year old white woman.

They’d never do that to another race. White people in American ARE the problem, just so you don’t forget.

What is the easiest way for a person who has been ignored or bullied by society to become famous and have every part of the country talking about them with 24/7 media coverage of them and their life story?

I’m assuming you are a troll.

Can you imagine the chaos of an active shooter event is everyone is armed? no one would know who are what they are shooting at.

Gun free zones and schools with a couple of armed guards ain't working. Having the knowledge that everyone in the school house is armed is a pretty big deterrent to would be shooters. Arm every man, woman and child in the US. Its the only answer. Background checks don't work, why bother? Laws on top of laws against shooting folks ain't working, why bother. There is only a little over one gun in the US per person as we speak. Good guys with guns stop bad guys with guns. There are more good guys than bad guys. Therefore logically we need more guns, not less of them. Just a modest proposal...

So a 28 year old man with mental health issues. Now I am curious how the weapons were obtained. Legally?

The only solution is to arm every man, woman and child with a weapon with no regard for their background, age, capacity to tell right from wrong etc. Every one. It would also be relatively cheap considering the crime it would prevent.

Good people with a gun will overcome bad people with a gun. The state has no legitimate means that is constitutionally supportable to conduct a background check or in any other manner stand between a citizen of this nation and their right to keep and bear arms. There are already right around 400 million firearms in the US with about 330 million people. Obviously the trouble is there ain't near enough guns in the hands of near enough people....we have to have more. It is the only solution that does no destroy the second amendment.

Just a modest proposal but the only solution is to arm every man, woman and child in the US with no regard to the person. There are simply too few guns in the United States....

I imagine this played so well on r/politics, but you just seem like a dumbass in any discussion on how to actually address the problem.

Some looney who felt “marginalized” at their Christian school when they were little because they were trans or gay or something.

Maybe.

Definitely will be a loon. If gay you won’t hear much. Like Uvalde.

I have ZERO idea what mental health reform looks like, but we need it.

Gun reform? frick off. And we have a Second Amendment.

Psych reform?????

Gun reform probably has a better shot. Because psych reform is going to be much more expensive than passing some laws on guns that only takes away “pew-pew’s”.

“Criminals don’t follow gun laws”. Crazy fricks don’t either.

welp...its time to ban assault lunatics. Maybe lock them all away safely in some sort of institution so my innocent AR won't have access to one.

You are correct. But would it make a difference if the killer drove a car into a crowd of children? Would the parents fell less pain if the killer stabbed the kids or beat them with a bat?

The root cause for someone shooting up a school full of children is going to be mental health 100% of the time. There literally is no other explanation as to why someone would do that. The root causes of mental health is a million dollar question isn't it

You're missing my point. Firearms in this country have been much, much easier to access prior to the rise of school shootings. Access to weapons has gone down, while school shootings have gone up. School shootings prior to the 1990s was a very, very rare event, despite being much easier to access firearms.

That points to firearms not being the issue. So any call to "ban assault weapons" is ignoring the root cause. I have my opinions on what that is, as do others. But banning an inanimate object that has never been an issue until recently is a lazy, knee-jerk response at best, and a direct assault on our Constitutional rights as law abiding citizens at worst.

Totally fair point. I admit the issue is extremely complex. But it needs to be solved somehow. But I fear this nation is far too divided in order for that to actually be done.

The key word is popular. The actions of that guy from Waukesha doesn't make it a trend or popular.

You know the murderer isn't someone from the group they wanted it to be from or we would have already heard the whole life history of them. I just figure it's the latest CIA operative activated to push the latest hotbutton issue. Wait till we hear about how they were on the FBI's radar for years while they did nothing.

Pretty sure this is people trolling. She is/was living in Canada and has had ongoing beef with tons of people on the internet:

Wait... if it is actually keffals... that person just a few months ago was going around trying to get the likes of Rekieta Law banned from YouTube with mass strikes to silence opposing views
