Congrats on having made great choices in wife and watch.
Well done.

I bought a watch from Walmart for $29.99. It looks like a much more expensive watch and still working great after 10 years use. Their watches are found in the jewelry department.department. I recently acquired an
Apple watch and getting used to it.

Seiko prospex (or similar Seiko mechanical) diver...bulletproof "poor man's Rolex". I have acquired three through the years for the beach, snowboarding, working out, and general beatings.
Otherwise have five others from three brands: Rolex, Omega, Panerai. I got started with it 22 years ago. I haven't bought a new one since having kids.
If you are interested/into it they are a great hobby as what else, if you buy right, can you use every day and if you take care of them, can get your money right back out of them and pass them down to your kids one day?
Horology/good quality mechanical watches are a combination of excellent: design, craftsmanship, engineering, utility, and art.
Wish I could afford an AP and a Patek. Maybe one day.
I wouldn't ever say they are a good investment, but you would be hard pressed to find another personal item you can enjoy that meets the criteria above.
I was more obsessed with it in the past and know a little bit and have forgotten some. Obtuse is the man & knows his stuff!

That GMT is awesome. Get the Rolex You will have to buy from gray dealer though
This. If you get in a Rolex dealer the only thing you can get is an old pee-paw style gold datejust and looked at with scorn.

This is my problem with Rolex. If I got 15k burning a hole in my pocket and I want a submariner, sell me a frickin submariner.

I assume you’re getting older if you haven’t worn one in years. Get a smart watch and monitor your health. I quit wearing one but I now love my Apple Watch.

Sorry for the late reply I was far more busy since I posted I would get back to you than I expected. Are you married to the Dark Knight/Bruce Wayne colors or do you like some of the other Rolex inspired colors like Batman (Blue/black), Pepsi (red/blue), or Sprite (green.black)? I ask since I am having an issue finding the black/gray in one of the watches I feel comfortable recommending but I can keep looking is you really want a gray/black bezel.

i have a fitbit i wear on my right wrist which is black and about the same size as the old livestrong band. battery life is around 14 days so i rarely think about it and it monitors all kinds of health shite including aFib events.
that leaves my left wrist open for my meager (yet beloved!) collection of watches. i admit to being a sucker for watches but i'm not a rolex-whore; i like all types (pilot watches, gmts, omegaswatches, divers watches, etc)
if i see a watch i like i will eventually buy it. right now i've got my eye on a couple of Bell & Ross' which have caught my fancy and i cant quit thinking about.

Would like opinions on Rolex Sub or GMT II compared with the new Omega Planet Ocean.
TIA.

You can try a preowned site like benzel
Just search for a watch with box and papers - it’ll just keeps it value and if you decide to sell it it will be easier to resell

There are some pretty nice Seiko mods you can order to make them look like a submariner or seamaster and a few other models.
I really like this one.
Who wants a $600 dive watch that's only good for 100 meters?

Rolexs can be a solid investment.
They produce a million rolex watches every year.
The fake scarcity is not dissimilar to the diamond cartel.
If I was going to spend that much money on a watch, it wouldn't be a "basic bitch" watch like Rolex. Get an Omega or something.

Get a Tudor Black Bay and call it a day, that’s my favorite model anyways. I don’t want to play the Rolex AD games or overpay on grey market sites and this is the brand I have landed. I haven’t purchased one yet but it’s on my 2026 goals list as a want.

I have three Tudors - various models. I really appreciate the value and quality you get for your money.
