50- and 55-foot lots.
Ah the ole, "sell these to unqualified people, foreclose in 2-3 years and then pick them up as cheap rentals, which drags values in the whole area down" scam huh?

It just seemed odd to me since the focus has been in the Shenandoah area.
Its everything south of Florida Blvd (with a few exceptions for the most part) that's not already in the city of Baton Rouge

I’m guessing they will get bought up though with a bunch of families overextending themselves so they can have the latest and greatest.. it’s the Baton Rouge way.
Sorry you can't afford a fairly typical upper middle class home....but there's no reason to be this jelly.

It’s the American way, and they’ll sell for more than they bought for so the cycle will continue!

825 lots to a less dense, single-family residential development, zoned A7, which will allow for 776 50- and 55-foot lots

Well it’s too soon. You have to build a bunch of houses and wait for them to flood first. Then you address drainage and flooding concerns.
We couldn’t possibly provide infrastructure improvements BEFORE you do any developments.
I wrote this a few months ago..

ZACHARY, La – After purchasing their 2nd 300+ acre piece of property within 2 years, on which will sit nearly 1,000 new homes, the DR Horton company offered the city a gift intended to ease their minds about the guaranteed flooding issues that are sure to follow these 2 enormous projects.
Tonight at a council meeting, Horton revealed this artist’s rendition of the 1,000 foot ark they are having built for the citizens of Zachary to use as a means of evacuation when it floods, much like the one Noah used for animals in the book of Genesis.
Rather than actual wood, the ark will be built out of a cheaper wood-like material imported from China that is guaranteed to start falling apart about a week after the warranty expires.
Tickets for the ark start out at $49.95 for VIP seating and there will be no refunds for anyone who misses the ark on flood day. VIP ticket holders will receive a voucher for $100.00 off their next Horton home purchase provided you can prove you lost everything in the flood.

It is not in the flood plain, unless you are considering it in the Mississippi River flood plain.
Bayou Manchac and Bayou Fountain drain the SW corner of the parish. Building in the fplain of those two bayous impacts the entire region.
If engineered correctly, I have no issues with developments, but other developments in the general area have been stopped because of regional concerns.
