Like the Ranger?

Yeah, this is nothing more than an OG Ranger of which I had the Splash variety in my youth.

I've been in the market for a truck and looking around.

There's no reason to get a Tacoma when you can get a Tundra with for a little more money and about the same mpg.

I took Tacoma off my list.

Tacoma is a good reliable truck, but it is not competitive with towing, payload or fuel economy. The TRD off road is awesome if you need an off road rig though.

The Colorado and Ranger have higher capacities. Even the Ridgeline does.

I like it. For what I need, it would work.

Is there any competitor to the Tacoma that has a MPG in the 30s?

An under 20k pick up in America. They said it couldn't be done.

This is a good thing.

Yeah

I don't see why anyone would be upset that there is now an affordable new pickup on the market

The Colorado with the turbo diesel is rated at 29 mpg Highway. Most people get low to mid 30s on the Highway.

And it can tow almost 4 tons.

There are no gasoline options with those MPG’s. Maybe the 6 speed manual 4 cylinder Tacoma 2 wheel drive?

Ford should get busy fixing all the build quality their existing products before they introduce new ones. Only so many microchips to go around apparently.

Looks good and is all that most people truly need from a truck.

FWD on a "truck"

At least it looks decent. It looks more truck like than the ranger which almost has a car like front end on it.

Crazy how the market abandoned the small truck market and then the midsize market and now they are coming back in both segments.

Now, if GM could bring back the S-10 but keep it RWD somehow..

All true. But if you are someone who "drives the wheels off" your vehicles, the Tacoma will outlive those others by twice over.

MPG is really the only thing that I can count against it.

I keep wishing I was mechanic enough to mod and drop a Tundra engine in my 2012 Tacoma. I figure the power would be awesome and the lighter truck would make for a little better gas mileage.
