How far back are you wanting to go? You could maybe make an argument that the left’s obsession with abortion is similar to human sacrifice performed by collapsed societies like the Inca I guess.

Last summer, we once went 10 weeks without garbage pickup

Are you a registered sex offender?
Either way, stay away from people’s children.

Left in my sense would just be progression on the political chart and not necessarily a particular ideology.
Progression too far left or right would likely lead to this though.

Cantrell is on the run
Moreno was just on local radio taking about the clash between the counsel and the mayors office.
The counsel wants to do an investigation into deals that have been done and Cantrell is balking. She’s blaming politics, racism and anything else you can imagine to deflect.
She’s hiding something.
This will get interesting.

Rome I think is the society that most closely mimics our trajectory and they certainly went too far left. They also were conquered as a society more so than collapsed in my opinion. The “dark ages” that followed were anything but left, so you’re probably correct that too far in either direction is not good for society.

Nothing will happen. She will continue business as usual, and any corruption will be cheered by the same idiots that are calling concerned citizens "snowflakes".
Again, this is about the eternal enemy of every Progressive alive today: YOU. They hate their fellow Americans with a passion. That's why they come in threads like this one to mock and ridicule anyone that wants positive change.

there's no way I'd ever go to New Orleans now. I live in a suburb of NO. My girlfriend (out of town) is coming in next week, and I told her we will NOT step foot in that city - for her and our protection.
I think this is exactly what DS is talking about. People on TV scaring the shite out of viewers through hyperbole.
I've been going down to the city about every month for the last 20 years. I have not witnessed any crime in that time. I'm not saying it's not bad, or that I would want to live there, but it's not like if you go you only have a 50/50 chance of coming out alive.

Maybe. Who knows at this point. If what is being alleged is true there will be bigger entitles involved. New Orleans wasn't the only city involved.
Also some major corporations got their honey pot raided, so they have an interest.

I've lived here my whole life and its been a very long time since I can ever remember the fear in the populace being so palpable.
Everyone talks about it, its extremely noticeable.

Social media plays a large part. Never in history could one follow a single Instagram account and get daily security camera videos of what a murder looks and sounds like. When ordinary people, not people like me who worked in the system, see that, they can't comprehend neighborhood or circumstance, it terrifies them.
That aside, the City has a feeling of lawlessness few have experienced. In the 90s NOLA was much like the Wire. If we'd seen those videos it'd even be worse.
In my opinion, the Magistrates are the biggest problem. Never have I been shocked by bond amounts as I have now. Public defenders trumpet "bond is to guarantee appearance, not punitive," but that isn't true. That's one of several factors the Code of Criminal Procedure provides for bond consideration, with one being the danger the individual poses to the community.
An individual on probation or parole who gets arrested should have no bond. An individual on bond already for a different case should have no bond. Bond for a home invasion should never be $5000, requiring $750 for release. Aggravated battery 5k. Attempted murder 5k. Over and over and over. The irrational OBSESSION with jail size needs to end. Jail is an outcome. No one is rounding up people walking down the street. It's a result of an arrest and a finding of probable cause. Time for catch and release to end.
Sit your arse there and wait till Africk deals with JRW in a month.

You've been ahead of all of these stories more than anyone.
I'm going to guess that the rumor of JW taking a plea and stepping down is false.

Your comment was beneath a response, but I’ll do it anyway.
He simply posted that he could not understand why any tourist would go to NOLA. He did not say, nor did he imply, that he reached that conclusion solely on the advice of Tucker Carlson. That was YOU who made that leap.
BTW, I’m in Utah at the moment, and my wife was talking to someone in NOLA who said that yesterday, while crossing the high rise, his friend’s car was struck by a bullet. These incidences are coming closer to home, and NOLA is becoming increasingly lawless.
