I think you are taking it too literally.
It's likely just a model. They know how many people were in NOLA, and they know how closely packed people were for an entire week. It says that they also believe it was all one strain of the virus.
Model what it would look like to have one case in there and see how much it could spread. With the biggest thing about the virus being it's high infection rate, I don't think this is a crazy notion.

call bull shite that 1 person is at fault.
2 1/2 weeks after Mardi Gras 2020 there were only 37 cases in Orleans Parish.
And it's already been established that NYC seeded the pandemic throughout the country. The New York Times even admitted it (it was posted on here at the time).

New study suggests every infection is due to shithole chyna

You know what's currently the #1 album in China?

Or that the day after that texan arrived 3 people from New York could have brought it
Or a New Orleanian went somewhere else for Mardi Gras and brought it back.

Image of spreader caught in action

Yeah - it would never be any of the illegal Chinese immigrants in New Orleans that spread it
Has to be Texas
Has to be Texas

What a waste of time for the research and work done for that article.
A disease spread exponentially. No way!

It had to come from somewhere and Texas is as reasonable a place as any. Personally, I’d rather pin it on a yankee liberal state like NY or Georgia but whatever
I know I had an undiagnosed case of covid late February and it was unpleasant. Oschner didn’t have a test and I tested negative for the flu. It definitely wasn’t a cold.

The Work Boat show and Power Gen show in late 2019 at the convention center were crawling with Chinese people trying to sneak pictures of new equipment so they can rip it off

I have no idea how they can determine this, but with people come from all over the world, I find it very hard to believe that one person is responsible.
Last year, I went to a Mardi Gras ball the Saturday before Mardi Gras. A little over a week later I was sure I had the flu. I had fever, felt like shite, etc. Corona was in the news at the time, but not enough for me to even consider I could have had it.
I went to the doctor to get tested so I could start taking Theraflu and knock it out.. But I didn't test positive for flu.. which I was sure I had.
My doctor asked me if I had been around a lot of people, other than the normal weekdays and then weekends being around people, the ball was the only event where I was around a lot of people.
Anyway, I felt kind of bad for 4 or 5 days.. Then I started to feel better but not 100% and it took me.. 2 weeks maybe to get back to 100%.
It could have been anything.. And at the time they were not even testing for Covid yet.. The ball I went to has people who come from different places, different states, different parts of the state, etc.
If I did happen to catch it, I would have no idea how they would be able to trace it to where it likely came from. Some of the people there might have gone to New Orleans the night before, the weekend before. Some people could have been around other people who went to New Orleans.. Or people who come down to family members from other states, could have brought it down from where they came from.
In February 2020, we were not even testing and with people attending mardi gras events all through the state, which included people coming in from all over.. How can they even say it came form one state???

That can't possibly be right. Honkus isn't a Texan.
For real though, all this means is that it was a single strain of the 'rona that went through New Orleans before, during, and after Mardi Gras. How could they possibly infer that it was a single person as opposed to just a bunch of people that all were infected with the same strain?

First time on this site I can legitimately say it could've been me.
Traveled with my family to expose my son to Mardi Gras during the smaller parades the weekend before.
My bad y'all.
I will say I did get sick when we got back but no fever. Really sore throat.
