It's not in the same class as an F150.
Say that when the F150 transmission goes out at 90k miles.
The Tacoma is superior to the F150 in all categories except towing capacity and interior cab room.

It's worth it if you are looking for a compact truck. But are you willing to pay near full size prices for the add-ons to make it appear bigger?

"A four-wheel-drive Tacoma Limited crew cab can crest $40,000 with options but still has manual seats, without even a height adjuster — powered or manual — for the driver."
"the Tacoma's rear drum brakes"
"It's a "brand-new engine" in its "first application" on the Tacoma"
Manual seats, drum brakes and a new engine thats never been used before...for $40,000+
Plus looks only an african warlord can love, I'd hardly call that "superior" not to mention its numerous dimensional and capacity differences. Toyotas lost their rep for flawless reliability years ago, and they still come stripped bare with interiors that were outdated a decade ago.

Haven't had one in a while but a couple of friends drive them currently. I had a 98 TRD 4x4 and sold it in 2001 due to needing room for my squid. Even back then, I sold it to Carmax for 1k less than I paid for it. 34,000 miles. I would give anything to have it sitting right here today. I think you owe yourself a test drive for sure.
I bought a new 4x4 X-tra cab back in 2000. I traded it in for a 4runner after hearing the spousal unit bitch about how hard it was to fit a car seat in the back. That was an awesome truck. I'd love to have it right now.

I own a 2010 Tacoma Sport. All i have ever done is change the oil every 5k and it's never once hiccuped. Paid off, with only 80k miles on it. I will run that truck into the ground. I love Mammacita.
You can get butthurt all you want about not everyone loving F150's, but I guarantee my Tacoma will outlast your F150.

It's not a new engine; it's only new to the Taco.

Got a link to all these f150s blowing transmissions?

Worrth every penny. Find a comparably equipped full size 4x4 ( like my 09 TRD OR) and you are looking at 60k. I paid 27.5k for it ( disclosure-it was dealer owned and had 10k miles). I pull a smallish boat every other week to the coast. Is also a daily commuter. Perfect for me. Go ahead and get it.

My only gripe with Toyota is their interiors are always set back 5-10 years depending on the vehicle.
I love my 4Runner though and if I get a new vehicle outside of a new work truck it'll be a Tacoma.

Ok, I had a couple of F150's prior to buying my Tundra back in '08. I didn't have any problems at all with my F150's but I wanted something different. Now, after 7 years, I want to go back to the F150's because I like the interior of those trucks more than the Tundras. Tundra hasn't really changed their interiors since I bought mine back in '08.

No. Just to start, F150 has way more tech.
Probably gets equal or better gas mileage too

i had an 02' 4 cyl and kept it through 185k miles from when i was 16 - 23 yrs old. Has 33' mud tired and 3" lift and dogged it as much as i could, never broke it.
in February 2012 i bought the V6 4x4 - solid truck. only sold it for a full size to have more cab room. Sold it at 2 years old w/ 55,000 miles for 4k less than i bought it for

I know nothing about Toyota pickup trucks, is it reliable?
Toyota makes, far and away, the most reliably well built trucks.

I don't get the Tacoma fan boys, they act like the taco is the only truck to roll over 100K miles, my brother in law had a dodge ram in the 80's with 357K miles when he gave it to his brother. I have had many non Toyotas with over 150K miles and only needed to do basic maintenance. I see tacos on the rack at auto shops all of the time...just don't get it.
by the way, car and driver test Colorado VS Taco
C&D
