quote:Lol. My exact question. But my daughter is a runner and a serious one. She put me onto Nike Frees about 2 years ago; I'm on my third pair. They are great for around the house stuff, biking, and walking my Shepherd twice a day. I like 'em best without socks.
What is this running thing you speak of?

My podiatrist buddy told me Frees have crippled more people than polio.

If people switch to Frees, then start logging a bunch of miles without adjusting their running style, they open themselves to greater wear and tear
I run in a pair of Five Fingers. Its not something I could do every run at first. But over time, it became way easier and caused a lot less pain on longer runs. I run in the Pure Drifts with no problem now.
Switching to a midfoot strike is not something you can do overnight, but I find that its helped tremendously since I've done so.
I find that the frees feel like my feet are "swimming". Theres not a good sturdy strike. Nice and comfy to walk in, though.

Dont have the runners, but love my free 5.0 for my cross training needs. Excellent stability and support for jumping and side to side movements.

Seriously? I've wondered if they're good running shoes.

I have some. I bought the originals back in like 05, then they seemed to disappear for a while. Then next thing you know as of about 2011 everyone was rocking them.

Yeah, red ones. Very light and comfortable, good returns.
And sexy as can be always helps.
Got the new 2014s that came out a few weeks ago on red. Love them.
