We’ve made it easier for that segment of society to maximize their shittiness.
Well, the USA has a “freedom” issue, and I am not talking about too much freedom.

People have freedom to do whatever they want, but we don’t give them the freedom to suffer the consequences of their actions.

We “safety net” them.

True, but the problems go deeper than that. This will be downvoted by many, but the push for legalization has been a massive failure on many levels.

Freedom has a cost. Society would be better off if we outlawed table salt or added sugar, but here we are.

If a person wants to get fricked up in their spare time, more power to them. That should be a fundamental right. As with alcohol, there should be penalties for harming others while under the influence, but no one should be allowed to tell me what I can put in my body.

It is now clear that many of these predictions were wrong. Legalization has led to much more use. Surveys suggest that about 18 million people in the United States have used marijuana almost daily (or about five times a week) in recent years. That was up from around six million in 2012 and less than one million in 1992. More Americans now use marijuana daily than alcohol.

NO frickING shite

There is nothing free. Nothing. Nothing in life, behavior, sex, philosophy, etc. You name it, for every single thing that occurs, there is something happening to counteract. Everything.

Down to your energy level. If you get a good night's rest, and you wake up with more energy than normal, that energy came from somewhere. The energy came from the rest which came from something happening the day prior that enabled you to get more rest. Whether that was shirking of responsibility, or an accumulation of eating better finally paying off, or whatever it may be, something had to happen and someone somewhere got the shaft, even if you don't see it directly.

This is the same fricking principle. It's the same principle anywhere in life. If people would just accept that to get anything, not even saying negative or positive, to get anything to occur, something must be sacrificed, life would be a lot easier for a ton of folks.

I’m not willing to lock human beings in cages because they consumed a substance and committed no offense against anyone. There’s nothing anyone can say to convince me that we should lock human beings in cages for that.

That’s what you took away from that? Seems to me they are simply admitting legalization hasn’t worked as was promised. Where in the quote do they call for “locking people in cages”?

Dumb arse nephew has this in spades. A couple of puffs or one gummy and he is puking his guts up. Stupid arse still does it. Not sure why.

a team in my kids football league had to ask parents to stop coming to practice and smoking weed on the sideline because the smell got so bad.

Shocking, give in to trashy people and they ratchet up the trashiness.

What was promised and by who? I think the main promise of legalization was that people would no longer be put in cages for possessing, using, or trading/selling weed.

This is an editorial opinion article. With that in mind, what would you say was the purpose of the article?

And for every person like you, there exists the majority of the population who cannot handle it. It's the same with alcohol. There are a ton of functioning alcoholics who get shite done.

It's bad for you. It's proven that it's not good for you. If you want to do it, fine. But using the "look at me, I'm so unique" argument is really cheap and lazy, and only diminishes your point.

Much of what we wrote then holds up — but not all of it does.
So the big revelation is that weed isn’t vitamin C. That’s not exactly a breakthrough. The real question is what the authors think the solution is, because pointing out downsides doesn’t automatically justify rolling back legalization. Adults are allowed to make choices that carry risk every day, and personal liberty has never been contingent on perfect health outcomes.

ok but how is hyperemesis syndrome different than being extremely hung over?

i dont even support people smoking but the article is weak AF. it is no different than alcohol

the one thing that needs to change though is use in public. It smells like complete dog shite and I should not be exposed to it. we dont allow open container all over the place, why should weed be different?

IT SMELLS LIKE shite, THOSE THAT SMOKE IT SMELL LIKE shite....but it should still be legal.
