I doubt you are sitting there with abs or at least a flat stomach. You can probably stand to lose like 5-10 pounds. Though considering you’re just above the recommended weight it really isn’t a big deal for you but you’re probably annoyed you’re classified as overweight.

Because society isn’t used to seeing slim people anymore.

You would not be malnourished exactly but you would be really skinny. Why do you guys always go to the extremes? Because 139 would be considered underweight. It gives you a range because it has to start and end somewhere. The goal should be in the middle.

your BMI is freaking borderline good and overweight. Congrats on being literally on the bubble of being a good BMI. Lose 5 lbs and you are there.

Because you arent. But unless you lift weights....you are skinny fat.

140 is the borderline on the underweight catagory.

It is laughable how much yall use these outliers to try and somehow make bmi not work.

again only 8.9% of the population lifts weights. if you are not part of that and it says you are overweight...guess what......you are fat. Even if you are part of that ~9%, if you havent lifted extremely hard and consistently for 2+ years and BMI says you are overweight.......you are fat.

Exactly. Depending when Bug is weighing himself, he might just be a solid 24hr fast and large morning poop away from 189.

lift 5x's a week. 5'10, and about 205. I could lose a few pounds but not 30.

Unless you are absolutely jacked, you absolutely could lose close to that.

I weight train hard 5x's per week and weigh 170 and I know I can drop at least 20#s. Just because everyone else around us is super-fat doesn't mean we aren't overweight.

modern day 'murcans are just big in general, probably because of all of the 'roids and hormones that are in the animals we eat, I'm exactly the same size as Billy Cannon was when he graduated from LSU, if I walk on the LSU field today I look like a midget

Yet even if they were a natural bodybuilder, that had maxed out their potential for building lean muscle....they would still be between 15-20% bf at the weight the BMI states....that is fat acceptance.

Your post is pretty much spot on, but 11-22% bf is considered normal range for the average person.

its not written in stone for one single individual, there are outliers, but they make up less than 5% of the population and prolly less than 3%.

Is BMI good for measuring large groups? absolutely. Its not the best, BF% is, but for just going off of height and weight...its pretty damn accurate.

Sure there are the borderline guys like BUGS AC where he is considered very slightly overweight, but again he could take a shite and be in the normal range. But in general yea BMI is pretty damn accurate.

i think you miss understood me. I was responding to that specific person and saying even if he was a top level natural bodybuilder and the weight he stated....he would still be within the normal BF% range of what is considered normal and wouldnt even be in the ideal or athletic range.

Him thinking he would look like a "SKELETON" is the fat acceptance part.

It says I am overweight with a 25.5. I wear a 32 comfortably and could probably get away with a 30.

BMI is overrated as a measuring tool of healthiness.

Doesn’t account for muscle tone, genetics, or general body size. Their “healthy” BMI would have most people looking like skeletons.
