Roger that.

I'm at 26.2 BMI according to the calculator in the OP. Overweight by 11 lbs, but I'd love to lose more like 20. Sitting at 20% bf which is within normal range, but I'd still consider myself overweight based on look and feel.

A lot of people need to be harder on themselves. I wouldn't necessarily call someone my height and weight "fat" but I definitely consider myself kind of fat and definitely feel fat.

It says I am overweight with a 25.5. I wear a 32 comfortably and could probably get away with a 30.

I'm right on the obese line right now and have several pairs of pants that are 32 waist That means nothing with today's clothing. Hell, the 34s I'm wearing right now are getting a little too loose without a belt.

My BMI says I'm obese but my body fat percentage is 17% which indicates fitness

Gorging myself on beer and pizza so I can get a shot next week. I will borrow a cigarette from someone to smoke as I go in.

Not only that but access to food as well - my grandpa (born in 1912) was 6’7” - but skinny as a rail. His dad and uncles were just as tall - one of the uncles was over 7’ - but they were cotton pickers and were all skinny

If they lived today and had food readily available, they would be huge

I wonder if it's just a perspective thing based on where someone is weight wise relative to where they used to be. I would guess people who were skinny/fit in HS are more critical of their adult body, relative to someone who was always a bit husky.

People need to see more pics of themselves instead of looking in the mirror and letting a kind eye judge what they see. Pics are what opened my eyes a bit for sure.

Good point. Someone has to be pretty obese for me to consciously consider them fat, but not the same for myself.

This is probably very true. Someone who has been the thicker/huskier kid their whole life probably doesn't believe they physically can be smaller than that, at least not healthily.

like I'm chunky but it has me as obese. I weighed 175 (it's suggested amount) in HS after major lung surgery and looked like a prisoner of war.

Beach pic from the year my daughter was born was what got me to change. Sucks because it's one of my wife's favorites

I'm about halfway between where I was in that pic and where I'd like to be. I'd love to blame covid, but the holidays got me pretty good this year. Was doing pretty well before then.

My fat spots are love handles, which is good and bad. That tire is very noticeable compared to someone who holds more weight in front, so I look worse at a lower (over)weight. But it also catches my attention sooner and gets me to get off my lazy arse and shrink it probably more than someone who holds weight more subtly.

It was a pic that got me too. Sitting at Ruth's about to devour a 1500 calorie meal Got someone to take our picture and I hated it.

Funny enough, photos are also what motivate me. I have beach photos from spring break 2010 and they are hands down the best photos in my swimsuit I have. I use them as my goal.
