Bikes ride with traffic as they are under same traffic laws. Walk against traffic. My 2 cents.

There would be no tension between cyclists and motorists if the cyclists weren't such little penises about it.
I'm pretty sure I earn the right to bitch when people intentionally try and scare me by passing close or intentionally speeding around me to cut me off when they turn. Most drivers are cool, just like most cyclists are cool. Bad apples in both groups reflect poorly on everyone else.

So this means they don't drive trucks and dress like rednecks is what I usually get out of these kind of quotes.

If the cyclist was at fault who is going to pay for the damage to the car and hospital bills?
Cyclist should have insurance...if they want to "follow the rules of the road".

it's covered under homeowner's insurance

They really need to get the bike paths fixed by the river and lake. Biking down chef is a bad idea. You swim with the sharks you might get bit.

what if cyclist is renting?
Posted on 4/11/14 at 1:29 pm to Topwater Trout

I was just curious. I wonder what happens in cases like that.

Looks like it could be a QR, older Felt or Chinese bike based off the fork...? The picture is too blurry to tell for sure. Hope the other guy comes out of it okay.
And what was the driver doing? There's a rumble strip and everything.

Chef is a heavily ridden area for us here in NOLA. Our local training ride goes down it every Saturday & Sunday. Granted, we do have "safety" in numbers. We have had a minimal amount of incidents with motorists, as far as I can recall.

There should be more bike lanes in and around cities.
This is one situation Europe has it better than here.
Not to mention we have way too many shitty roads and potholes everywhere.

Probably the same thing that happens when an uninsured motorist hits a cyclists.

Bike lanes are cool, but they're not the answer. I guess the true answer is to train in areas with minimal traffic. For weekdays, the levee is great; however, it can't compare to grinding it out with several other top notch racers for 70-100 miles. The route we take, which involves Chef, is our best alternative. Besides driving to the N. Shore.
The answer is cyclists observing the rules of the road closer, motorist having greater awareness, and people putting down their damn phones.

The only time I'm bothered by bikers is when they use pedestrian cross walks... There's a few times the biker didn't realize how close to serious injury or death they came to by flying across a cross walk.

I heard about this when I was picking up my packet for IMNOLA...still doing some ressarch in who it is.
Not that I wish this terrible news on anyone, but like we hope a hurricane hits another city, I hope these were some out of Towners in for this weekends race.
Either way, it sucks and I won't help but think about it when I'm on the course on Sunday

Hey guys, tickets for the LSU/Wisconsin went on sale today through ticketmaster. As expected they're not cheap, but they won't be any more expensive if we buy them direct from LSU. Is anyone interested in buying their tickets now?
