No thanks. I don’t want to have to wear a jacket on a beach trip.

Second year to spend Thanksgiving week here.
Head to the FloraBama on Turkeyday for the Free Thanksgiving Pot Luck Dinner. It's like a Golden Corral buffet with beer. You may even find an old bird to take home and stuff

The later in the year, the more Northern snowbirds. The culture changes. It’s no longer a Southern town.

Read the Mullet Wrapper in winter and you see lots of announcements like:
The Illinois Snowbird Club will meet for Bingo at 2 pm at the county library.
Michigan Snowbirders will host a pot luck luncheon at the Methodist church on Tuesday.
But they never hurt anybody.

Unless you want to swim in gulf water,
Personally, besides the fact there are way more bikinis in the summer- swimming in the water is one of the best parts of going to the beach.. i’ve been to Destin in the winter, and it’s nice because there’s less traffic- but not being able to swim in the Gulf is a bummer.
To me the only really rookie move is trying to go to the beach at Memorial Day, or 4th of July, or Labor Day.. if you steer clear of those times, it’s manageable.

Missing out
Warm enough to hang on beach during the day. Cool enough to throw on a sweater to go to dinner.
30A is slammed Thanksgiving week, though, so it's not really a break from crowds other than peak summer/NYE.

Destin is so much better than Orange Beach ?
Lol, this is SO the people that used to go to Orange Beach 10 years ago but are slowly moving down the coastline to get away from the "crowds" and act all elitist about it.
I live in Ft. Walton and it's funny watching those people come in and act like they're too good for Orange Beach because they started going to Perdido 10 years ago and have slowly made their way down east. It's especially funny in places like Santa Rosa where people that have been coming there for like 3 years act like they discovered it because they branched out a little from their Gulf Shores destination.
Navarre is still the best beaches in the area right now, before it gets overrun.

no one else is around
This is the time of year I head to my condo. The Louisiana trash balls are all gone, and the snow birds haven't arrived yet

I agree with Navarre. However, the restaurants there are horrible. I like to eat my arse off like a fat OT 10 when I vacation

You seeing any schools of Bull reds off the beach? I'll be heading down in 2 weeks with the boat.

they are everywhere.. especially in Mary Esther. The problem is that the one's we have caught are either too big or too small.

You should also try Perdido
No, don't. It's awful. Do NOT go to Perdido. No sir, not at all.
