I think Southern pretty much stopped anyone from having interest in building another nuclear plant.
There’s interest. I usually get 1-2 projects a year that hit preliminary diligence. Then they flame out once the lawyer bills start to stack up. Maybe the additional ira credits will help, but I don’t think it’s enough with the current cost of capital. Maybe in a low interest environment.

He should put his money where his mouth is. There’s no shortage of interest but a there is a shortage in capital to build them. He could fix that, but he prefers to play with other peoples money.
He's putting up a billion dollars of his own money.

He’s putting up 25% and the us taxpayer 50%. I’m glad to see him actually doing something other than run his mouth, but I’m always cautious if these DOE co-invest projects. He’ll probably end up owning most of it while only putting up a fraction of the money. While the tax payer basically gives him the rest.

The fact that we're not 100% nuclear at this point is a travesty.
Natural Gas is a lot cheaper

You really think he gives a shite if you have electricity? He probably wants you to have enough to restart your computer once a day.

Natural gas was also at $8 not long ago. It has very unpredictable prices. Again why having multiple sources is preferable.

Is this just a bunch of hooey? That doesn’t sound real safe.
I just listened to a podcast discussing Gates’ claim. You’re correct, it’s based on an old design that’s been around for years. The sodium/water danger is real, and in fact it would react to water molecules in concrete, so a containment facility may not help much.
Once again, Gates is full of it.

How else is he going to kill off 70% of the world’s population? Vax didn’t work apparently.

Mr GreenScienceMan says "what we really need is nuclear power that is fueled by wind and solar farms"

I much rather a pressurized water reactor.
Have been safely been operator for millions of hours between military and those in France.

Gates has made a career on being a thief and a fraud.

Bill Gates obviously doesn't care about the reactor's blood pressure.

You can bury that shite a couple miles underground below the water table. I believe Sweden or Finland has developed tunnels for this purpose. And there is not much fuel to worry about. All the spent nuclear fuel used in human history so far would fit inside one football field.
One problem they cannot solve, though, is how to communicate with future generations that the fuel is located at that spot underground. In 10,000 years no one will speak any language we use today. And you can't really use something like a skull and bones symbol because that might have a different meaning 10,000 years from now as well.

I work in a nuclear facility and am also confused by your statement.
What quick demand changes are you talking about?
