I don't understand expensive watches either and I don't fall into either category. I think it's just my white trash but utilitarian upbringing.

There is truth to that, I've had a one of "those people" ask me how much I paid for my watch and their reaction was like a snake bit them.........then reached into their Yeti 110 for a silver bullet.

Broke- Loosely considering a 50th anny Sub, where would you look first? Have been poking around Rolex forums and stopped in a few places in the diamond district here in NYC. Looking like I can get one around 6k w/ papers.

Rolex Forum

They have a for sale section. Lot of knowledge on that site.

I haven't reached OT Baller status but I've got a few high end watches and believe it or not I didn't get them to impress others. I don't feel the need to tell you all about them. I've never been afraid of getting mugged over my watch.

For those of you who feel like spending money on a watch is a waste, enjoy your ps4, golf clubs, hunting leases, jacked up trucks with truck nuts or whatever you waste your own money on. I really don't care if you feel I've pissed my money away on them.

Well in that price range they should all be functional, so that leaves your personal preference to a piece of jewelry, just go pick out something you like?

I am NOT Broke. But in my recent reading and skimming of sites, $6000 sounds like a good price. Condition depending of course. Especially with box and papers. That Rolex appreciated somewhat.

Price sounds good. Source of price is definitely a "Broke question" so I'll step away.

Yep. In the last 2 years I've found 3 watches all automatic and highly reviewed for under $1500 in total.

If I have tons of play around money someday I'd like to have a Omega Planet Ocean or some type of IWC.

But for now I'm good with this rotation that hasn't broken the bank.

I say anyone that would spend that type of money on a watch needs their head examined.

How much was your engagement ring?

I just don't get the Breitling love. I find their dials way too "busy".

Thanks. The one I looked at in person was $6500 but in great shape. Between the forums and hitting the many stores here with a wad of cash, I feel like I can negotiate one well into the 5s. Still not sold on spending that much coin, but want to test the market.

I agree for the most part, but the Superocean Heritage is on my list

That is one of the better looking Breitlings that I've seen. At that price point I'd rather a Tudor Black Bay Black, though.
