Nurses in TX make good money. One state over and one can make serious $$$$ as a nurse. Without having to work massive overtime.

I think half of Youngsville’s population came from New Iberia

Does that mean it should be called the Youngsville Haircut now?

That’s what I find hilarious about Youngsville folk trying to market itself as some Mandeville/Houston esque burb. All that happened was the rural towns around Lafayette consolidated into Youngsville

At least it’s the people from rural towns with enough money to afford a cane field cookie cutter

Everyone always argues the cost of living as if it’s soooo cheap to live in Louisiana. It’s not cheap to live there given the quality of life and every metric that matters.

When it comes to anywhere outside of NOLA, the cost of living is very cheap comparably to a lot of places.

But I get what you're saying. Spend a little more elsewhere, and you get a lot more for your money (not for all people, before anyone loses their mind at that statement. this is all subjective)

I pay more in taxes than I did in LA, no question. But actually seeing some sort of return on my taxes definitely makes it more palatable.

I disagree. It’s pricy to live in BR and Lafayette too. Lake Charles housing market has shot up too.

I know from experience that the housing prices are higher in Baton Rouge and Lafayette than desirable places in and around Oklahoma Cify, Houston & Dallas.

I live in the Heights in Houston. 2800 square-foot house. 8000 square-foot lot. The value of my home is probably around $600,000. My wife and I were looking on Zillow at BR real estate just for fun. I was shocked that many of the houses in nice areas, at similar sizes cost as much or more than ours.

What are some small towns in the Rockies that y’all would move to or have moved to? I’ve considered Colorado and Utah but maybe even Wyoming. I love small towns but it’s nice to have a small city close by to have more things to do. Thanks for any help.

Louisiana has low pay and high cost of living. Not a good combination.

While I call it home, there are limited industries and the politicians in this state are borderline retarded.

Keep in mind that people are moving out of small towns everywhere, even in Colorado. They are moving to bigger cities like Denver for opportunities that don't exist in the small towns.

Look in Idaho. Less expensive, gorgeous.

Uh, you just noticing this baw? I lived in Houston for a while and I swear nobody grows up in Houston. About 80 percent of the new people I met were from LA or other gulf states. It's not as bad now in AL with all the automotive business we have brought in along with some tech up in Huntsville.

But AL used to have the same problem. Anyone with half a brain moved to Atlanta, Houston, or elsewhere after school. I can only imagine with O&G being your only option in LA lots of folks look elsewhere.
