Dude should have taken it in to have it put down if that was the desired outcome.
My $.02 is that it isn't the pit bull's fault for being born. And it was doing what it was bred to do by biting. Pits shouldn't exist, but there's never a reason to give any animal a painful drawn out death. Hell even shooting the thing is quicker and more humane than choking it to death.

Shooting, done properly, is the most humane method of killing. Never really "got" the whole electric chair / gas chamber / lethal injection mess. Dog pound in Covington used to use truck exhaust to kill dogs.

Lethal injection is a shot to put you to sleep, then one to kill you. I fail to see how shooting could ever be a more humane means of execution.

There is a reason they charge that much money to have an animal gently put to sleep with the proper drugs. Because, much like you and everyone else on this board, it's an animal and can suffer. I don't know what idiot thinks it's okay to strangle any animal to death. If he wanted to kill the dog and couldn't bring it to a vet, there are quicker ways than a strangulation. That's nonsense behavior.

Well, it's quicker and less error-prone. Some of those people who got the lethal injection twitched around quite a while. The people who really know the science behind that stuff (doctors) mostly refuse to participate in executions, so there seem to be some gaps in understanding there.
And even if doctors did participate, there are dose calculations involved that are somewhat unreliable. People wake up early from anesthesia all the time. People don't wake up from a rifle bullet to the head.

im not opposed to putting the dog down if it's dangerous. But asphyxiation via strangulation is cruel.

Should have just called the cops. They’d have come out and shot the dog at no charge and no one would have gotten arrested.

I dont get this? We had a mutt that bit my younger brother on the face and he had to get stitches. My dad took the dog to be killed. Whats the difference?
