Liz I am not sure how to answer that question. my dad Dementia and Lewey Body. he was diagnosed about 10 years ago, and mom was primary care giver - i helped when and where I could, but 7 of the years they lived 4 hours away. they moved closer and my wife and I was able to help more, but now that he is gone - my mom is just adrift and struggling with sense of purpose.
we have pretty much convinced her to move in with us, so she is no longer alone and will have us around to help her - she also is not getting any younger.
all you can do is just try and keep your Dad's spirits up and try and help him with positivity. it will not be easy and i wish you all the best in such a challenging time.

Cut a lock of her hair for you, your dad, and any other family member. I did that with my dad.

So sorry… I felt the same way with Mrs.PJ. Took her off her vent and she lasted only 8 mins. It’s raw and very difficult. But she is at peace now. Think of it that way.im here for ya if you need…

Prayers sent Liz for you and your family. My dad is slowly approaching this same situation. Defeated throat cancer but the chemo and radiation took its toll on his entire body, including his stomach. Visited my dad this weekend and it’s very depressing.

Sorry for your loss. I lost my mom 31 years ago, and I still think about her every day.
