Exactly 1 year ago the average 87 octane was over 2.50 in Spartanburg and Greenville. I can only find a SC state average of 2.83 on the diesel.

Edit: i can also find diesel for 4.43 in that same area today.

Rig count is down like 40% from pre pandemic levels and the production firms learned from their mistakes after the lastoil bust. Futures prices say the high prices won’t have much more longevity but who knows with this Russia stuff now. The CCP shutdown should help too but will cause other price problems in the supply chain in the US.

Thankfully him and his fascist administration are gone. Biden is building back better putting America first. He even released some of our strategic reserve to help Americans with the high prices. Now Elon wants to undo all this good by letting Trump and his radical followers back on Twitter and back into the media. Keep that toxic evil out of our country.

If we can get the green energy legislation passed it won’t matter anyway because we’ll get off of our pathetic reliance on ancient methods like fossil fuel

I almost could see why a person COULD believe what you typed until this. High gas and diesel prices HELP American businesses according to you. So if we go electric how would that help?? Also electric so so awesome and clean now according to your thinking. But what happens when it starts cutting into fuel taxes. The money will be replaced tax by mile or electric taxes even for those still driving fossil fuels cars. Double taxing the mostly poor and working class. And if that wasn’t enough to shatter your green energy fantasy. There’s only enough on earth resources to build enough electric cars to replace UK’s fleet. Also facts. So instead of just spewing what the ABC nightly news correspondent is selling you do some research.

general rule is one barrel of crude makes two parts gasoline and one part diesel
- gasoline is a consumer product; diesel is a business product in the US. Excluding people who buy diesel personal trucks
- all the supply chain issues and business activities are driving high diesel demand. Trucks, rail ships. This is international. Add in resumed air travel. Jet fuel comes out of the diesel pool.
- a large chunk of the international diesel pool came from Russia pre war, especially to the EU.
- gasoline isn’t in as high demand because people are still driving less post Covid
- every incremental gallon of diesel that gets made makes two gallons of gasoline so that makes gasoline cheaper

Bottom line is diesel prices are high because of the issues above, but gasoline prices are being driven down by the structural issues

This is good info

Chit is still too damn high

After the clean air act in 2008 this is not true. This act required passing diesel through an additional treater unit to remove the sulfur therefore costing extra to produce.

Your statement is true for high sulfur diesel which is now illegal. Before someone responds who doesn’t know what they are talking about, off-road diesel is still ultra low sulfur diesel it’s just taxed less which is why it’s cheaper
