I didn't mean it to be. Louisiana is dangerous, and I think it is sad that people there (including my loved ones) have that danger in their lives. It is not like that in many many other parts of the country
You said the Northeast isn't dangerous. That's just a flat out lie.
Let's list a few crime free cities in the NE:
Philly
Camden
Baltimore
DC
NYC
Boston
Hartford
Jersey City

Most of yall that have lived only in La. just accept this as a fact of life, unfortunately.
I've mainky felt like I should have a weapon in northern california (I had to back down to meth heads in a gas station eho cornered my wife in an aisle using only my rather imposing size and a large can of ravioli in each hand), the northeast (the meth is unreal), and missouri (the thugs in cities are not used to being confronted when they act aggressively).
...so your opinion doesn't mean much.

There are some places you need a gun to feel safe. There are many more places you don't. I think that was his point, and he is correct

Don't bother with him. If he really thinks only people in LA need a gun then he's clearly never been to any major cities.

I lived most of my life in NOLA. Never feared for my life. Never raised a weapon to another civilian except my fists.

Not where I live now so I don't give a frick really
When I lived in Shreveport on a bad part of King's I felt it was necessary to have a loaded piece near the bed just in case

How do u not have one single gun in a household is what I can't comprehend.
It's like an insurance policy, "it" may not happen but if it does you'll be sorry that u weren't prepared.

Ever get stuck in the woods at night?
Walking out without a weapon and a light is not for the faint of heart in louisiana.
Blow an engine on I110 at 3am over chippewa?
The entirety of north california?
St. Louis?
Middle alabama?
Pennsyltucky?
The bronx?
Jackson?
Shreveort lol?
Southern border with mexico?
Offroad towns in Utah during the summer when thw druggies are baking their brains in the heat?
How about after a hurricane when looters are out and about?
I can keep going.
There will always be people who seek to take what others have earned. And there will always be coyotes and hogs in louisiana who are a little too aggressive for their oen good.

Umm, ok. Pretty sure most "true hunters" would disagree with you. But go ahead & enjoy the spray & pray hunting method.

In fact, it's a small caliber weapon..
Exactly. So maybe not well suited for general self-defense OR hunting. But pretty damn effective for killing multiple humans quickly. Keep it as a military weapon. Which is what it was designed for.

because the media has you believing that the AR stands for assault rifle and it is a veritable automatic cannon, I shouldn't have it.
Thanks buddy but I am capable of thinking for myself. I know what it stands for.

You're right tough guy. So relax...I'm not coming for your guns. And don't tell me what the media has me believing

I still have a 357 from the Louisiana days, but a lot of people around me have never owned a gun and never will most likely.
In short, places outside of Louisiana do indeed make people feel uncomfortable enough to own a gun, but it is more prevalent in Louisiana without a doubt in my experience. It's a high crime rate thing coupled with the redneck lifestyle and mindset

Function. One trigger pull, one bullet fired.

Perfect for both actually. .223 is a nice small caliber for plinking and any animal in louisiana. The platform is also easy to aim and works well for self defense. I prefer my vepr 12, but that's because of the shock and awe effect of thousands and thousands of projectiles in the air.

Pity. You clearly need someone to do it for you.

I think every home (without felons or criminals) should have a firearm, like the old days. It's how it should be.
If nothing else to protect your home from invaders

quote:AR15 is a modified M16. Even the developer of the M16 said the M16(and subsequent AR15) wasn't intended for civilian/hunting use. It was designed as a war rifle to match the AK47.
How on earth can anyone agree that a firearm like an AR15 is OK to be legally sold/owned by a civilian?!
Because it is no different than your average hunting rifle in function.

You're right though, because the media has you believing that the AR stands for assault rifle and it is a veritable automatic cannon, I shouldn't have it.
You don't get to dictate what I own.
The AR15 is easily upgradable to mimic the M16 in functionality.
Even President Ronald Reagan was against assault rifles sold to civilians.

Never had one. Didn't grow up around them nor do I ever shoot them. I don't have the safety knowledge to have on in the house. I also have a 3 and 6 year old and it scares me to death to have a gun around them. To teach them safety and experience around a gun, you have to know safety and have experience with guns. I have neither.
