quote:. Fine let me restate that then: for minimal additional tuition dollars. Plus they can still tax you AND collect out of state fees.
Huh? LSU doesnt get my tax dollars?
I’m trying to make the point that y’all need to stop smack talking LSU because in another 10 years you won’t be able to get in there either.

Along with probably a record low % of the eventual enrollees who submitted ACT/SAT scores…
I still can’t find the test submission data on the 2025 fall freshman class. LSU has change reporting formats again. Where you see lowering test submissions of enrollees you will find inflated high school GPAs as well.
In a prior discussion on LSU and Tate’s push to change the make up of LSU there was a post that explained how schools take advantage of federal grants with out of state and Pell grant eligible enrollees. If anyone remembers it or knows how it’s done please post it here. Black out of state and grant eligible students were Tate’s and Lee’s focus.
I was thinking the fall of 2027 freshman class would be the one to push white undergraduates to the plurality status, but it may just be this class.
Even new leadership wasn’t going to be able to stop what focus was already in place and likely offered already to applicants for 2026. I am not entirely sure the new ones will want to change as LSU is getting locked in to with dorm constructions.

LSU's admissions committee is going to have some tough decisions this year and in the future.. do they admit the kid from Texas with $$$ or do they try to educated their own residents for free.
The out of state $$$ you speak of is more likely from being Pell grant eligible than from being rich.
Texans with money are going to Arkansas, Ole Miss, or even Oklahoma if they don’t stay in state not LSU.

University of Alabama model
What was the racial makeup of Alabama after its model was fully implemented?
LSU forked that model and has had built in entirely different goals.

My daughter was turned down for UT. She had a 3.7 avg. and an SAT of 1390. We checked off LSU because of the distance (I, of course, was fine with the distance, but wife had to keep her apron strings tied tight) and was accepted at Arkansas, A&M and Oklahoma. Several of her friends from Flower Mound, Frisco, Southlake and McKinney decided on Oklahoma and she went, too. They all pledged into the same sorority, Alpha Phi.
When she went in as a freshman it was the year of COVID. It wasn't a good year, but the school adapted, and then she excelled. She graduated cum laude, and came out as a boot wearing, gun on her hip, proudly conservative MAGA girl with skills, a network of friends and academia, a high paying job, and full of confidence.
Highly recommend OU if you are in N. Texas. Super nice campus. Good night life but the town is built around the university and it has the college town atmosphere.
My son faced the same. High grades, high scoring on SAT but turned down by UT. He's going to engineering college on the UT-Arlington campus, which is ranked third best in Texas after UT and A&M. He's finishing his sophomore year, then he's planning on transferring to UT Austin as a junior. He's guaranteed the transfer. He's not guaranteed to get into the engineering program. It's highly competitive.

Transfers don’t get into the Business or Engineering programs, regardless of their GPA.
That’s why all of the kids who transfer to Texas and Texas A&M from UTSA, Blinn, Texas State, etc. all get Communications and Liberal Arts degrees.

Does UT still have the same rule where they only accept the top 5% of each Texas high school’s grads? Always seemed like a dumb stipulation to me
I got accepted into UT but went to LSU
Worked out for me

lol…what?
Where did Tilman Fertitta’s son graduate from?
You know, the one sitting court side with Lane Kiffin at a Houston Rockets game?
How about Jim Flores’ daughter…?
Swinggg and a miss.

Dallastigers is some sort of weird OU fan who pretends to be an LSU fan
Like nola lsu Tiger who pretends to be an LSU fan but is an Ohio State fan
Probably because we’ve beaten them in championships

This can only be good news if Rouse is instituting the old application rules and ACT requirements that Tate fricked all up.

You have give 2 possible examples out of a thousands of out of enrollees recent enrollees, and then say swing and a miss???

You might want to check which version of a dallastigers profile you are talking about.

Living in his little DFW bubble
That was some of the dumbest shite I’ve ever read.
LSU loves students from Texas. It’s why you see all of the “Texas Tiger” gear made and sold at the LSU Bookstore, Bengals & Bandits, etc.
Ironically, I’ve never seen LSU do the same for any other state outside of Louisiana. They must be on to something…

You claimed, straight out of your arse, that kids from Texas with money don’t go to LSU.
I quickly provided a billionaire’s son and a multi-millionaire’s daughter who both proudly received their degrees from LSU.
So, yeah, you swung and missed.

Disagree. My son was an out of state full pay, no grants or scholarships. I live in an affluent area of Houston and count more LSU plates/flags/yard signage than UT or A&M. Five kids from his kindergarten class 15 years ago ended up at LSU.

Don’t bother responding to him.
The guy who claims Texas kids with money don’t go to LSU before admitting he doesn’t even know who Jim Flores is

Not so fast my friend. ATM has a backdoor route that works quite well.
My son got into both UT and ATM right out of HS, then decided he "Wanted to live his life" rather than go to school. Six months into that of working OT in a blue collar job and he came to his senses, but the front doors of both were then closed. So he went with the "academy" route with ATM.
ATM runs these "academy" programs under various names all over the state. The one for the Austin area used to be the Chevron Academy, now it's the Samsung Academy. You enroll in the local community college and take classes both there and with ATM pre-engineering professors. You can get your first 1-2 years done this way, and it is CHEAP compared to going straight to the main campus. A GPA over 3.0 in the Academy will get you accepted into some of the engineering programs for the main campus, over 3.5 and you more or less get your pick of majors.
The program was started to get more minority students in. When we went to orientation, there were 2 black kids, 5-6 hispanic, and the rest of the 100 or so were all white or Asian. People found out it was cheaper, and the standards were still tough, but not quite main campus tough.

We thought Norman and the campus was one of the weaker ones we toured. Arkansas was much better IMO and that area is beautiful. In Norman, you turn to campus next to the huge ugly Indian Casino. Athens, Knoxville, Auburn, Ole Miss, T town blow it out of the water IMO.
OU just doesn't give as much money from other schools and its jut an average school. Don't know why people pay out of state for an average degree that mean any difference when compared to other state schools' tuition.

So not this upcoming class or even this past fall which is what is being talked about.
