Garcia replaced my roof 3 years ago. I had some soft decking and I paid them to replace it.

When I built my house in 2000 I wrapped it in certainteed fiber cement lap siding. It had manufacturing issues and I’m having to re-wrap my house with Hardie siding. Since I’m doing that I’m changing the facia and soffit to Hardie as well.

When I stripped to soffit in one area, I found where they cut out a soft spot and patched a 1’ area with sheet metal instead of changing the decking like they were paid to do. I found this yesterday and am wondering if I should even bother calling them.

This could end up being a good thread. I hope it sticks around.

The OT can maybe do some good with shite like this.

Good luck. My sister has called several times since they did their inspection and were "working up a quote for repairs". It has rained 2 or 3 times since then. She calls each time, and they "add a message to the account" saying she called. No return calls yet.

If I were looking at replacing my entire roof because of what they did, and because I’m remarkably petty and have an overactive desire to make things right I might do something like this…

Reserve “Garciadestroyedmyroof.com” which is open. Build a simple website detailing all the issues that she is having. This can probably be done for less than 100 bucks.

Send the manager/owner of Garcia a link to the website and tell him/her that you are getting ready to invest in targeted Facebook advertising in the area they service.

Ensure that they know that you’ll dedicate at least a few thousand dollars to this effort. Also, tell them you may already have outside funding from other dissatisfied customers.

But that’s just me…

Does your sister still have a copy of their bid/contract from when they replaced it after Ida, or the insurance companies estimate that Garcia agreed to? It should be itemized and show any and all flashing work they were supposed to do or were paid to do. Some flashing such as pipe boots, chimney, and step flashing is pretty standard on full replacements. In fact I can't recall ever not seeing an insurance company pay for those in the ten years I was an adjuster, unless it was a situation where they had previously been covered and not replaced in a prior claim.

How does one get the entire roof replaced and not any of the flashing? Also, roofers will typically avoid replacing dormer or side wall flashing that was previously installed under hardi/vinyl siding and brick reglet flashing because its hard to do and costly which will lose them the job. Its usually listed up and then tacked back down with little to no sealant. Now a days these roofers use sub crews with little to know supervision. Lastly, roofers aren't typically ghosting you on rain day like this, they are probably fielding 100 calls, just keep calling and messaging them.

I would go the insurance route because they will try and recoup payment from the roofer.

I don't know exactly what was agreed. I'll get the information and clarify. I know at least some of the leaking is where the roof meets a wall.

I agree that today isn't the best day to call, but they ghosted several calls including on days with no rain where they never called back.

Why would good content like this catch an anchor?

Garcia must have slapped Chicken with a C&D after the famous thread.

The thread doesn't go back to the top of the board when someone posts in it. The admins attached what amounts to an anchor on the thread so it sinks to the bottom of the board as more threads jump above it.
