IMO it deserves to be in the awards or certifications part. If you’re interviewed by anyone who knows the dedication it took to get that, they’ll know you have good work ethic.

I have read a lot of resumes. My attorney boss used to make me screen them.

Anyhow, when I did my resume, I had titled sections like

"Summary"
I am seeking an attorney position that offers daily challenges, blah blah blah blah.

"Education"

"Employment History"

"Honors and Awards" ... you get the idea.

You could format the resume like that and put Eagle Scout under Achievements but I would put it at the end of your resumé.

Keep your resume 1 page if possible. 2 max.

Usually no need to go back more than 10-15 years if you are an experienced job applicant or if a job you've held further back than that is specific to job you're applying for.

Until your professional history has something impressive leave it on.

If the hiring person was into scouting as a youth or still is imvolved, it's a home run.

what weight, if any, does the title of "Eagle Scout" carry on one's resume in today's corporate society?

I think it is completely dependent on the person doing the interviewing. I was not involved in scouting, so to me, it would be a positive thing, but would not sway my opinion on the candidate at all.

However, others in my organization do find it to be a very desirable accomplishment and it would make more difference to them.

I would say that the upside is uncertain, but there is almost no downside to including it.

Put it on the resume if:
The hiring manager was an Eagle Scout
The job requires tying knots
The job requires building a fire

If none of the above apply, don’t put it on the resume

Even today about 20% of the students admitted to West Point and the other service academies are Eagle Scouts.

Agree.

I've kept it on my resume through college, med school, residency, and first job apps.

At each stage there's been at least one person who commented on it or brought it up. Most of those people were in scouts or eagle scout themselves.

At the very least it can be a conversation starter. I.e. what was your eagle scout project, did you do any of the high adventure stuff (Philmont seabase northern tier), were you in the OA. Etc.

ETA: I have no shame in putting it on my resume. It's an accomplishment and I'm proud of what I did even if it was 15 years ago. It's a shame the organization has changed direction/culture and some of it's identity in recent years.

I would have said the same, but I work in an area where boy scouts are huge. It would absolutely be helpful for a decent amount of my acquaintances.

I’d put it on. I’ve put lesser achievements on mine

I have seen people include it and I consider it a great achievement, especially as a younger person. You likely carry those skills with you later.

It pretty tough to attain. I think it shows ability to set and achieve a long term goal. I would include it. No negatives in doing so.

It is referred to as Resume Gold. Those that understand what goes into earning it us it as a distinguishing factor.
