It's going to hurt monetary charity donations too.

if an extra $100 at the pump over the course of a vacation with the family is really going to hurt you financially, you shouldn't be going on vacation

I probably use 25-35 gallons of gas a week. Hasn’t impacted me enough to change plans or cutback on travel. Gas was cheap for years. Economies around here need good gas prices. I am not in the oil field, but I know when oil is up it helps this area. I really don’t mind paying an extra $30 a week for a stronger local economy.

So what about you? Have rising gas prices affect your every day life?

I just plan my routes to have the most efficiency. Can I afford the gas? Yes. But it still sucks when your pumping, you see the total $$ going way over what you’re suppose to. And this is just direct cost and not counting indirect costs that factors into other goods that you buy.

Of course, you will have OTers who will claim be “fine” with the gas increase. Sure you can flex your wallet but if youre not bothered on how you’re getting fricked over on a daily basis, you’re a chump.

No. I prepared myself for this scenario more than a year ago.

A lot of folks including myself WFH so we barely notice the rising cost. Just went on vacation and it wasn’t a big deal. Prob shouldn’t be going on vacation in the first place if $3.50 gas is a dealbreaker.

My son has my old f150. Went to get an inspection sticker today and noticed it was on empty. Between the $20 sticker and gas, I spent over $130. That truck has a 36 gallon tank.

A 500 mile road trip @ 20 mpg would cost you $62.50 each way @ $2.50/gal and $100 each way @ $4.00/gal.....so $37.50 more each way. That isn't worth thinking about
Oh good. Now do 25,000 miles in a year.

It's a small part of most people's overall budget, maybe 5-10%.

I do extended summer trips, 8-10,000 miles. $3 or $4, the break means so much to me, I really do not care. Why check the weather, going anyhow. Just take another month or two to pay it off.

It’s not 4 bucks. Yet….

Let it reach the $4 mark. That’s the tipping. Point where folks lose their shite and the world shuts down. Least that was how it appeared in 2008.

Everybody just fricking stayed home. Or drove to nearby destinations. 2008 was a great year for me. Health care doesn’t get effected. Hope to get my debts paid down (well on the way) before sweeping HC change makes it a shitty job.
