lets local governments go after the tow truck operators who have picked many families’ pockets.
Those local governments are being paid off by tow companies, why would they bite the hand that feeds them.

What you can do about illegal towing by Riverside Towing: file a complaint with the state Police and/or sue Riverside Towing. I have not reviewed a single tow by Riverside Towing in which they followed the law. In most cases I have reviewed, there were at least 5 failures to comply with the law. Unless Riverside Towing complies with the law completely, the tow is illegal. Louisiana law says that when a person tows a car illegally, it is a felony. Unfortunately, the Baton Rouge City police ignore it and say "it is a civil matter."

The ability to let local jurisdictions control the tow companies — to forbid their use of spotters, to cap what they can charge, to require a business owner to sign and approve each and every tow before it happens — is in the amendment to the $340 billion highway and transit bill that the House passed 363 to 64 on Thursday.

What's the felony charge / punishment?
Posted on 8/6/16 at 10:23 am to theunknownknight
While it's a nice bill, the locals, especially the governments are being greased by Tow companies, so nothing will get done.
Only guy who will get nailed is the one not paying the bribe, and doing a more honest job of towing.

Damn baw, you ain't joking around today. Why don't you look into the fact that zero people have ever paid the maximum fee set by the state. They always tack on $100-200 of extra stuff. If you get towed at 11pm, your bill at 7am the next morning is like $250.
Idk if they still stage cars, but it happened pretty much the entire 10 years I lived in BR

Why Riverside gets all the blame and none of it is ever placed on the businesses that hire them amazes me.
Some of that anger needs to be directed at those buisnesses

If it is an illegal tow I don't see how it's not a felony. It's literally theft

's sad that 3 years later BWW@Northgate still does nothing to ameliorate that potential PR shitshow(I suggested managers/bartenders hand out a paper hangtag for a temp spot for a patron smart enough to not drink and drive).
I know a little bit about this, as my cousin used to be a manager at that BWW, and I've parked there for gamedays, but he gave me a tag to put on my dashboard saying I was a BWW employee. The guy who owns the lot also owns the buildings the businesses are in and the apartment complex. He rides around in a golf cart, and has someone with binoculars on top of the complex watching people park and get out of their cars. If they don't go to one of the businesses, they call for a tow truck.

I know who I'm calling if I'm towed by riverside the next time I'm in BR.

Does posting it 3 times equal treble damages?

A better tip is to file a complaint with the state police and get all of your money back. I will be glad to tell you how to do it.

You sound like you work for Riverside...
Trust me they WILL tow you, then slap you with a "special equipment" fee. It happened to me at a Campus Crossing.
