Hitler is too much. More along the lines of Goebbles or Himmler

When you start pissing off your base of workforce for true wage earning jobs (engineering, manufacturing, finance, etc.) that then support the service industry as tourism ebbs and flows, you've got an economic challenge that's hard to reverse.

I'm eating lunch with coworkers in the French quarter right now and no one I know will boycott shite here

Are NOLA workers going to lunch in Metarie? And if you "boycott NOLA" you aren't hurting the politicians, you are hurting the small business owner and restauranteurs. If that is the intent, have at it. It's about as consequential to the businesses as Ferguson riots. And I will shake my head at the odd logic of it too.

Yeah you missed my point. When time after time you marginalize your moderate, employed resident they'll finally throw their hands up and leave. To a location and a community where they aren't treated like shite by the electorate.

At least once all the monuments are gone, everyone will forget slavery ever existed amirite? SMH. I like what Condoleezza Rice said about trying to "sanitize history"....

quote:

They were people of their times. I wish they had been like John Adams who did not believe in slavery. I wish they had been like Alexander Hamilton, who was an immigrant, by the way, a child of questionable parentage from the Caribbean. I wish all of them had been like that. Jefferson in particular, a lot of contradictions in Jefferson. They were people from their time. We should celebrate the from the Jeffersons, Washingtons, slave owners, look where we are now.

Why do people care so much about a statue of a losing general?

So why do they still have statues up?

Oh that's right. They believe in not erasing the past.
