in my observations adolescent girls, teenage girls, and adult women are more negative and nasty to fellow females than men are to them.
Hell, just look at the e-fighting for the OT white knights that occurs among certain LLOTOT.

Funniest commercial all night, the irony of pointing out a stereotype and then proving it to be true...
They should have had some girls who can actually run or throw.

Even when the children started running, throwing and fighting.... They still looked like the adults who were doing it.

I would like to thank that commercial for causing an argument in my house last night. As I am holding my 10 month old daughter, my wife didn't appreciate my "how fricking stupid" comment abotu that commercial. She then went on to brow beat me about how saying a girl runs like a girl is insulting, etc. I told her, hon, you've ran marathons, that's great and all, I've seen you run, and you know, you run like a girl because YOU ARE A GIRL, and what the hell is wrong with that? Why can't boys be boys and girls be girls and people just all be happy and accept who they are and what positives they bring to the table?

The problem with this commercial, and let's not forget, it's a COMMERCIAL, as in, an advertisement by a company trying to sell menstrual pads, is that it employs a mostly fictitious narrative.
I grew up with 7 sisters in the 70's and 80's, and I'm the father of two daughters, 14 and 20. One of my sisters was a superior female athlete, and is now a high school coach. She runs very fast and she was an excellent volleyball player. She wasn't that great at throwing a baseball, and it's accurate to say she throws like a girl. Let me tell you, no one ever made fun of her athletic abilities, but she threw like a girl and she knows it. As a college graduate with a degree in kinesiology, I know for a fact that she can explain in biological detail why throwing like a girl is a real thing.
My other 6 sisters were almost entirely non-athletic. I'm pretty sure that they never felt "put down" by men because they weren't good at or even interested in playing sports.
Allow me to continue. I was one of the coaches for one of my daughter's softball teams (6th and 7th grades). We spent a large part of the practice time trying to teach the girls how to throw the ball more effectively, and other basic mechanics of the game. The only person who ever used the term "throws like a girl" was a college softball coach (very butch, and very good) who came to give our team some pointers. She used the term as a motivator and as an explanation to help teach the girls how to overcome their congenital difficulties.
One thing I noticed about the girls was that they loved being supportive of each other, even the bad athletes. They liked the experience of being on the team because, more so than boys, it was a way for them to bond as a group and be supportive of each other. The wins and losses and competitiveness seemed much less important than my son's teams and from my own athletic experiences. The point of this is to say that the girls were able to use athletics, no matter how much they varied athletically, to bond and to overcome negative teenage peer pressure.
While I agree that girls (and boys) all have to deal with self-esteem issues, this is nothing new, and it has nothing to do with boys criticizing other boys' athletic inabilities by saying they run/throw/fight like a girl.
The commercial was simply jumping on the "women are victims" band wagon to sell some femine napkins to women who are being told again and again that they are victims, thereby actually doing the opposite of empowering women.

It fricking bothers me so much when that kid is like "insulted girls, but not my sister."
Nah dude that is the exact opposite of what you are doing. Oh well, he will probably get a lot pussy in the future for doing this commercial
And I get it. It's the same shite with saying "that's gay." People don't want being a woman or being gay to have that negative connotation. I can understand that, I just think it's stupid to get offended over the dumbest shite. I am neither of those things, though, so I can't relate.
Although I will say that I have never once been offended when a girl is like "ugh you're such a guy" or whatever when I'm being a lazy shite watching tv eating chips all day.

You and me both. Why do girls hate being who they are? That's the problem. The commercial missed the mark entirely. Hell, my guess is the commercial may have given more girls a complex because their arm isn't biologically developed to throw like a boy. They physically cannot throw like a boy. Makes me think girls just aren't happy with who they are. So, they need to group think and let us guys know who the frick they want to be. A girl or a boy. I like women to be woman like. So, my vote is for girls who throw and run like girls. Hell, I know from experience that a girl running like a girl can smoke my arse in a 10K and look good doing it

As a father of a daughter I liked the commercial.
It's not about comparing girls to boys with regard to physical ability, it's about their self-confidence.
If my daughter thinks she isn't as good as my sons, and will never be, she loses motivation to try. Because, after all, she's just a girl. Even if she'll never actually be as good, I want her to give the same effort and try to get better.
I want her to say "frick You, World" I can do anything, and never back down because of her gender.

Running like a girl just means you run 10-30% slower.

WTF happend to the funny commercials? These deep, sad public announcements that are intended to shape the way people think are out of place during the SB. Save that crap for breaks during "the view" or whatever else women are watching during day time TV.

i loved the commercial and knew almost everyone here would hate it.
Best commercial of the night.
And to the haters, you missed the point. Its about using their identity as an insult, its degrading. By saying you "throw like a girl" to someone as an insult, you are saying girls are inferior to boys who throw it the right way. Probably the most insulting is when you a boy says it to another boy and girls overhear.

Commercial was cheap and dumb. Never did i see the damn girl asking questions get the frick up and demonstrate how to throw a ball or run track and field.

Really condescending.
Argued with the wife briefly because she liked it, I said it introduced ideas of inadequacy that were not there to begin with.
