You do realize kids up north go to school this time of year as well?

Dropping a few hundred dollars every few years (they keep growing) for kids to wear one or two days a year is dumb.

How can you have ice without moisture?
Tomorrow will be cold, that’s it, just cold

You couldve used a few more days in school. When temperatures drop, the air condenses and it squeezes the moisture out of the air. When its above freezing, thats called dew. When its below, it turns to ice.

Honest question, I’m not being an arse. Do you have kids in EBR or another district closed tomorrow?
EBR

I just emailed the school board to complain. Who is making these decisions!

Yeah, an 18 degree day when there's going to be ice on the road and a bus system that's woefully unprepared with drivers, many of whom don't understand how to drive when conditions aren't typical (who we've had to beg to drive the bus btw), carting around children is the same as sending kids to school during a rain shower.
Wasn’t there a school closure thread last week too?

Looking forward to next week’s school closure thread.

Then push back opening time until an hour past daybreak, Einstein. Ice dew: gone

I still have icicles here in Covington . They are slowly melting in the sun, but if they make it to the shade (which looks likely right now) then they will be there until tomorrow afternoon.

Lastly, I still have a thick layer of ice on my porch. The sun should melt it, but I would wager that it will re-freeze before it evaporates.

I still say that we should have school. but tomorrow morning won’t be without concerns.

Many of the same people in here bitching about school closures were bitching about yesterday as well.

There was a post in the other pinned thread about how "heads need to roll" for a pile up occurring in Lake Charles last night. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't. The same ones bitching about closures will be calling for resignations if a bus skids off some rural road.

You can't point this out, they really don't like it when you point this out.

Everyone on this site loves to bitch about how soft the younger generations are. This is why:

I have ice on all the shady areas around my house. I doubt the janitorial staff has road salt to de-ice the sidewalks at the school. Kids are stupid, injuries will likely occur.

It's dry outside. Your kid doesn't need a parka to be outdoors today. My sons were pissing in the backyard early this morning.

Its noon and ice is forming on my back patio where its dripping off the roof and freezing. No salt = icey sidewalks, just wait one more day. But, Im Einstein so I get how the properties of water work.

Do you need me to explain how gravity works along with the added weight of a book bag? F=ma

Actually, DOTD has apparently gotten ready for the weather in that they have been salting the bridges overnight. I can't recall that ever happening in Louisiana.

They didn't do that in Lake Charles yesterday.
