Greensburg and St Helena consolidated many years ago. But at one time Greensburg was a small but good little school. Most folks bailed out after that and went to the private school Oak Forest 15 miles away in Amite.
This is accurate. A desegregation lawsuit killed St. Helena parish schools, too. I graduated from Greensburg High School before the consolidation took place. At the time of my graduation, it was about 75/25 white.

Is there more than one public high school in the parish ?
How would one desegregate just one school?
Also, population of Livingstoned parish is quickly moving north into St. Helena Parish and they are bringing their children.

Wow.
And oh the trouble those involved were in when their fathers confronted them at the dinner table that evening after work!

Agreed. Go back to school shootings like the good ole days
I think he means the time, around 30 years ago, when school shootings were unheard of, yet gun laws were even more relaxed.

It happened in my hometown to the high school I graduated from during the Obama admin. Went from one of the top public high schools in the state to....shite. Because they started busing in "learners" from one part of the city down to the part of the city that was deemed "too white".

It was once St Helena Central, Greensburg and Woodland schools The poor and rural parishes consolidate to save money. But in the end it goes downhill.
Same thing for East Feliciana Parish. It was once Clinton and Jackson High Schools.

Could you imagine dealing with that every day/week for $50K a year - Summer off notwithstanding?
I imagine most get out of there ASAP.

How many of those "learners" shown in the video will be productive societal contributors 5 years from now?
My money is on maybe 2-3.

Yes, there were three high schools in the parish prior to 1988. St. Helena High was about 95/5 black, Greensburg High was about 75/25 white, and Woodland High was about 65/35 black. Students could attend any of these high schools unless they were in one, small zone in which the kids went to Woodland. Black parents could send their children to St. Helena or Greensburg, but most CHOSE St. Helena. They were never denied entry to Greensburg, but the only black students that we had were either going there by choice, or lived in the northern part of the parish.
In other words, a good public high school was available to those who wanted it then. After consolidation, there was none available.

I’ve never actually been to St Helena Parish

You aren’t missing anything.
Unless you are trying to get to I-55 while bypassing I-12 and Baton Rouge, there shouldn’t be a reason to go through there.

And I’ve traveled heavily across Louisiana. Would take 30 minutes to get there. Just no reason to ever go.

Greensburg Police Chief Cedric Burise said the scissors "nicked" the student near the eye.
He also added the learner has two eyes so losing one is not a big deal.

Sure there is.
There’s a new campground with kayaking on the Amite River. Show up and mention Tigerdroppings next year and you’ll be taken care of of.

Is this near Felixville, Darlington, or elsewhere?
