Does absolutely nothing for the value. Nothing.

Well that's on your for making it harder for yourself a second time. You should've sold the top separately and be done with it. I feel like you're also adding value to the truck for the added items and/or the cool factor.

I tried to find a used version when I bought it new in 2013 and it simply didn't exist. Now when I look on Autotrader this one makes 2 in a 500 mile area. Mine's much cooler.

paid over sticker for my truck, and even then it was a royal PITA to get. For me to get that back out I have to find the right buyer.

Reading between the lines, it sounds like you have priced it high. Good luck, but it's going to be hard to find "the right buyer" willing to pay more than book value on a used vehicle

I have a buyer for the rack and Bestop, but removing the rack adds a bit of an issue. I had to drill through the roof rails and go through a protective layer to get to the mounts. If I buy new rails, $125 a piece, and caulk up the holes, who's to say that's sufficient? I asked the dealer if they sold the protective covering that came over the mounts and he had never heard of such a thing.

That just seems like a big disclosure that I'll have to make if I try to cover up the fact that I had a rack on it, not to mention the few dents up there from who knows what.

no one cares about all your 'cool' alterations and debadging.

Suck it up and realize you made a bad deal when you bought the vehicle over msrp and so in turn are upside down.

Take your lick

And how many times are you going to post about your 6 year old truck that no one cares about? Seems like I'm reading about it every few days

It's a few hundred higher than the KBB price on Autotrader, but the only other comp is a few hundred lower than that. It's right at it, and I'd take the few hundred less than KBB if that's offered. That'd still be within $1k of my offer...so I don't think I am too far off.

I didn't make a bad deal, it's an awesome rig.

You'll get to hear about our super cool new vehicle (we're probably paying too much for) soon...so there's a plus.

That makes it much harder to sell. Unless you have something like an old collectible Jeep with a manual no one wants to buy that. You have a much, much smaller group to sell that truck to IMO.

Charging a premium because it's "cooler" to you doesn't mean shite. Most buyers don't or won't care about how cool it is to you.

Oh okay. My bad.

Tacomas have the highest resale value of any truck on the market, but there's not really a huge market for them because most people want a full size truck in the first place. You can't pull shite with them, and the interiors suck.

They're good trucks, but overpriced in my opinion.

As far as the manual tranny, I don't think it particularly hurts it. Some people are looking for a manual, just like you were.

Worst part is that I still owe money on it, so I don't have the title in hand. Just an added wrinkle I've never dealt with

I did this about 15 years ago. After I had a deal agreed upon with the buyer, we went to one of those auto title transfer places. They handled the title transfer, cancelling my registration and registering for the buyer, and handled the loan payoff and getting the title for new owner. I walked out with the bill ot sale and the leftover money after the loan payoff was handled

Any way to avoid being low-balled by folks who show up?

If they're trying to lowball you, its most likely going to be on the phone or by email before they come look at the car. If they take the time to come to you to see the car, they're most likely planning to make a serious offer. But if they lowball, tell them no and don't feel bad about it. They wasted their own time if they came with intent to low ball

I usually trade in just to avoid the hassle. You can usually negotiation within a couple/few hundred on trade in and that makes a private sell not needed for the stress.

Or decide what's the lowest amount you'll take, and advertise it at that price and list it as "firm". This usually gets more offers from people but they'll still try to negotiate a better price. Especially if it's a Mexican. You could offer those frickers a 2017 F150 crew cab Lariat 4x4 with 5,000 miles for $1000, and instead of whipping out the cash as fast as possible, they'd say, "You take $700?"

Around here, EVERYONE wants to negotiate on prices. No matter how low you price a vehicle. I've actually got a car now I'm selling 2002 Mazda Millenial fully loaded 120K miles on it, no problems whatsoever, have it listed at $1800. I'll take %1600 which is a great price on this vehicle. I've had more than one person offer $1500, sorry I'll let the car rot before I come down $200 and they don't come up at all, just the way I am.

I mean the $1800 would be a great price on the car but I only paid $1000 for it, so I'm hot greedy.

You can't tell me this isn't going to be an emotional decision to the guy who buys it. If a person is after the best deal and doesn't care that it's a manual then they simply won't buy this one. To the person who has to have a manual, my setup is more likely what they'll want.

Cool to me = cool. I've been telling you all that for years.

for you? As long as you are happy. But you have limited your pool of potential buyers. Those that are that specific probably just order one. I'd love a manual transmission for my boy driver, but I'm not paying a premium for it

I'm just saying that selling a manual is much harder than selling an automatic. Most younger people now can't drive a stick. They also can't parallel park but that's another subject. It's just a much more limited pool of buyers.

It has a manual transmission, it a damn Toyota. I had to go out of the TX, LA, MS dealer region after putting down a deposit for them to find what I wanted. Then I went to the AL, GA, FL region and put down a deposit with a AL dealer to find what I wanted. They found me a truck in BFE Florida, but obviously at that point I'mnot getting a deal on a vehicle. I'm not dumb, I just wanted a specific truck. To me if I'm paying $500 a month for 5 years I should at least get WTF I want. In no way is this an expensive truck either, probably half of a fully loaded F-150.

This doesn't compute. A fully loaded F150 probably comes in around $40K tops (unless you pay sticker, and apparently you do) anyway, a modest down payment and you're getting this truck for FAR less than $500 a month unless you're financing for 3 years or something?

Hell, last year I bought a fully loaded 2017 F250 Crew Cab, the only option it doesn't have are the diesel engine and the dually rear wheels. It stickered for $70K , I paid $61K , put $10K down and my payment is less than %500 a month.
