Never a fan of banning, but would support it in cases like this where idiots bitch and moan about severe weather threads and make smartass comments about it.

A lot of it is due to the bandwagon effect. They see someone else make a smartass comment and they want to be part of the cool kids club. The other part of it is they are ignorant and too self absorbed to understand that just because the area they live in wasn’t damaged, that everyone “overreacted”.

A long track strong/violent tornado really didn't seem in the cards last night. Had a little linear system without a ton of instability. The cell that produced it found clean inflow by being a little in front of the main line segment and thus was able to take advantage of the shear that was there.

Ended up being on the ground for the better part of two hours.

Are they supposed to host any baseball/softball games this weekend?

fwiw, my comment was not bitching about the thread. more about frustration with what seems like a weekly occurrence of severe weather in our area lately.

Much like the frustration with the almost daily traffic clusterfricks in the area.

What time do y’all think that second wave will hit BR. Just thinking about traffic.

The "second wave" it turns out is riding in right behind the first. HRRR has it through here by like 1-2 pm. Trending to be more of a heavy rain/flash flooding event for SELa vs severe.

Thinking more severe risk to the east of BR as the system eventually turns into one line and doesn't have it's inflow eaten by the blob in front.

Being conscious of the weather on days where there is a heightened risk is only a bad thing on the OT.

I've made one comment in this entire thread. Just stirring the pot.

I haven't said the first negative thing about any of yalls efforts this time.

Agree. The last two years these threads have helped me tremendously. One year me and the wife, one year just the wife we have been in areas with incoming trop storms and hurricanes. These threads gave the me most up to date tracking and information I needed to make sure we were safe. The threads bring together information from all of the forecasters out there rather than just getting one site's opinion. It has been extremely helpful to have all the info in one place.

Sure, the OT has its share of idiotic threads, but when it comes to big events like the Boston Marathon bomber thread, or any weather thread, the information gathered here is second to none.
