New mayor, same old results. This is why NOLA will never have nice things. Tourists, I might add.

Only way to save NO is to start publicly executing people like this or let the mob back in.

It was definitely alot safer when the mob was around, that's for sure.

I’m not sure what you want Helena to do in her first week on the job. This is decades of carelessness by a particular community especially, that is going to take a long time to fix.

Also - the person killed was not a tourist for clarification. He was a 26 year old “youth” running from another “youth”. He ran into the restaurant from the neighborhood when the shooter followed him and gunned him down in the front.

“described the shooter as an African-American male wearing a black hoodie”

Shocked, completely shocked. Complete disregard for human life

Both the mayor and chief were doing damage control for that restaurant. How horrible to have that happen in your business, or be a patron and that happen. Horrifying.

Was it the one at MSY? If not, I think I'm good to go.

And as horrifying is the shooter was 19 and living this lifestyle.
The article says the victim was 26 and the shooter is unidentified and currently at-large.

Friend,

These nostalgic yearnings for the halcyon days of New Orleans Mafia rule of the underworld are fallacious, and i hope you do not take offense, also absurd. It was the New Orleans Mafia that was responsible for introducing large scale drug trafficking in New Orleans, first with alcohol, and then with heroin, marijuana, and cocaine, which led to addiction and brokenness. These problems did not magically disappear when the Mafia’s influence in the underworld declined. The Mafia laid the groundwork for generational addiction, entrenched illegal markets, and the kind of street-level violence we still see today. Today’s drug crime in New Orleans and throughout the country is the legacy of the depraved individuals who formed the Mafia and cared not what happened to entire communities so long as the Mafia’s power increased.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

My mistake. 26, not 19. My post still stands.

But, but, they have a Bib Gourmand rating from Michelin. Those poor tourists prolly assumed they were safe in a place like that. SMH.

I swear the chief said in the video he was 19 and known. Maybe it was the victim who was known. I watched it at 3 am half asleep, so may have misheard. I’ll edit.

I heard the same thing and made the same mistake. They probably know exactly who the shooter is and he’s the 19 year old.

ETA: Nola.com article says 19, so someone has it wrong.

It could be in the video. I just read the article. I’ll give it a watch.
