I don't understand how NOLA tourism can take all these hits. Jan 1, 2025, this, and all the other crazy shite in between.

NOLA is one of the fastest declining major cities for a reason. It's a matter of time before the tourism decline as well. It's simply too dsyfunctional and dangerous. NOLA isn't attracting the right people ... it's mostly dumb liberals who enable crime and criminals who do the crime

as one longtime NOPD fairly high ranking officer told me once. - A hoodie should be probable cause for a search. It's not simply a NOLA problem or an urban problem, now becuase of subsidized housing in suburbs and even small towns it's EVERYWHERE.

A hoodie, shiesty, and backsack should be probable cause for a search. I see them walking around all the time in NOLA looking suspicious. But of course anything that reinforces law and order is considered racist but F those people. It's needed b/c those things highly correlate with crime and violence

Car jackings down. Armed robbery down. Sexual assault and rape down.

I’m not saying New Orleans is crime free or like a small town in Vermont. But the panicans and NOLA haters here overreact and exaggerate.

Crazy thing. The buildings themselves were mostly torn down. Really crazy thing...wasn't the buildings committing the murders.

But bayoumamabears social media has said it's way way worse.

She obviously doesn't have an ulterior motive so I don't think she would lie.

This is a really bad story.. A nun I knew who taught in Chicago had something similar happen when one night a student of hers sought cover in her nunnery, and the Mother Superior wouldn't let him stay even though the gang were waiting outside for him.

It's good to read a TulaneLSU response, maybe the only positive.

The old school ones were, and were replaced with the smaller units but still subsidized housing (that admittedly tends to fair a little bit better than the old school massive apartment buildings)

Orleans to the greenway is traditional style houses and I think they may have 2-3 units in each but like 9 billion of them clustered in a handful of blocks

Maybe they are facts or maybe there is something else being missed such as how the counting happens. What would you suggest is the cause of the drop? Could it simply be an anomaly and a return to the mean is pending?

I had forgotten about their ticket sales. Didn't they sell tickets to concerts as well. You could go there or D.H. Holmes to get concert tickets, right?

So you believe the count is right when the numbers are high, but the numbers are low and there is potentially an error?

Better policing/convictions. More community outreach. More money into the community. General shift away from crime as education slowly improves and present more opportunity. Less interaction in the streets and a shift to online life.

It ain't a single thing.

Not particularly. I'm not trying to "getcha."

I'm doubting the convictions part. There are tension of thousands on the streets with serious violence that have not been convicted, or when they are they get "time served" and probation. Money has been dumped into communities for decades to little avail. What "opportunities" have increased in NO?

This is an interesting one. But would the people potentially involved in street life in NO be distracted by that? Curious.
