Not yours? Just curious. An odd way of phrasing it.

The differences in dating a Ukrainian and an American woman are very different. Their upbringing causes this and this poster shouldn't be judged so quickly. I've only dated one and they just operate on a different wavelength

53 and a newborn and plans for another one? Not enough money in the world for me to do that. I am 40 and the thought of another newborn just gets me stressed.

Very different culture. They are not communist, but the culture still is. The wife was sent off to school at a young age to be a Doctor. She left her son to come here, because the father wouldn't let him go. Family staying together is not exactly rule number one for them.

That being said, if I knew Russia was going to invade, I wouldn't have left. Actually if we knew Russia was going to invade, she would have left with me. Up until a few days before I left, we both felt it was nonsense. I have to admit to being very concerned right now.

That's what I get for marrying a younger woman. I have two kids in their 20's from the first wife. As an older parent now, I actually appreciate more and I very attached to that little girl. Even without all this war crap, it was very difficult for me to leave the baby. If the wife wasn't determined to stay and have a second one, they both would have came back with me.

I'm sure this is the strategic advice being given to the President. Because when you think about it, we don't need to get involved in this war.

When you have embassies everywhere, businesses everywhere, tourists everywhere, naval fleets everywhere, a population of immigrants from everywhere, and a $25Tn economy that feeds wheat to Russia and rice to China, you don’t “get” involved when issues arise around the world… you start out already involved.

The US generally does not have the privilege of apathy or inaction in world affairs – very often, for the US simply to not react or to do nothing would actually be a hugely weighted decision in favor of one specific outcome or one specific faction over all others. “If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.”

Mine originally came over in an arranged marriage after her older sister did. She did not know a but of English during their wedding. Learned it all from tv. The guy ended up being abusive and she has some issues from it. Commitment is not an important thing in their family.

I had a few drinks with some of my British friends today. According to them the Ukrainians were told everyone over 55 needs to leave the country. Everyone else needs to pick up arms and prepare to fight. Guessing that's why the OP left. I still can't imagine leaving my wife and child to get slaughtered.

You sure got me figured out. I'm just a coward. My guess is you are still drinking. Your British friends are referring to the pro Russian separatist, not the Ukrainians. Ukrainians are being told not to believe American propaganda. So get your facts correct. I bought my ticket to fly back to the states in November of 2021. So its not like I grabbed the first flight out. I honestly thought Russia would decide what they were going to do before Feb. 13, but it didn't work out that way.

If you really think I would leave my baby daughter behind to get slaughtered while I ran for my own safety you are just a complete moron and probably should put down the alcohol because it obviously makes your opinions stupid. Shame on you for even suggesting such a horrible thing. You probably wouldn't even have the guts to go to Ukraine.

Defender of the Fatherland day... A holiday named by Putin is Wednesday. This will be the 20 year anniversary of the naming.

If I were an evil all powerful leader I'd go full speed ahead on that day and history books would be written about the bravery of my soldiers and I to defend the father land.

It used to be called Navy and Army day... So it is a military holiday.

Hopefully this isn’t like that thread where the guy was stuck in China when Covid was only in Wuhan- and then became a world changing problem

While I still haven’t seen an actual kinetic action akin to what I would picture as a “full scale” invasion...yet..., I’ll admit that this situation just keeps getting more tense and it just can’t keep ratcheting up like this without the conflict exploding.

What do you think would qualify as “full scale”? Just look at a map of all the cities being blown up.
