Almost 50 here and the divorce isn’t finalized. It’s been over a year. I just recently started looking.
Now, I’m sort of seeing this lady who’s the same age as me. We have a lot (like, a whole lot) of the same interest and we get along great. My only hang up is the fact that she’s a breast cancer survivor and has had a double mastectomy. I can’t help but feel like I’m a piece of shite for thinking about/being hung up on this.

First, this is a conversation that should have taken place in person, not by text. A person can't always judge correctly another person's context or tone in a text.
Second, what were you thinking? Again, you screwed up by texting. But you probably made her feel like she was a piece of meat only there to serve you. And you just devalued anything you had going for you, even in your friend zone relationship.
A friendship is a basis for a deeper and more involved relationship. You could have been really close, but I bet you are about as far away as you can be right now.

Well there's plenty of hairdressers and women who "do make up" in the dating pool. I'm in my mid-30's single/no kids and wish you the best of luck with those women. The AVEDA Institute produces some real gems.

Geography plays into this. I do not have trouble getting a date but it is tough to find a professional in small town Louisiana. I'll take a trip to a metro area and line up 3 dates the first day with women who, as far as I can tell, are more than a walking, talking bill

Guess I should consider myself lucky. I started dating my current wife 20 years ago this April, I was still 19. Six weeks from turning 20. She was 3 weeks from turning 21.We'll be married 17 years in October, have a soon-to-be 6 yr.old angel and are rock solid. I turn 40 3 weeks from yesterday. She just turned 41 on the 6th.

Guys I don't know what to say about all the professional women hate but this is what not dating a business woman just because she has a career sounds like.
1) I want to marry someone whos lazy and going to spend all my money, and when we get divorced she's taking half
or
2) I have zero desire to make solid wealth in my lifetime. Two large incomes sounds terrible because I won't be able to boss my wife.
or
3) I have an IQ below 83 and intimidated by an intelligent conversation with someone I have spend my life with.

This is pretty much what I have right now and I love it. No dating commitment bullshite.. but just not having sex as much as I'd like to, but.. whatever. I can jerk it four times in an hour or two. Problem is she's 51 and I'm 33. So yeah my drive is a lot higher.
