Moot point

In Louisiana, you have the right to confront someone on your property.

quote:

C. A person who is not engaged in unlawful activity and who is in a place where he or she has a right to be shall have no duty to retreat before using deadly force as provided for in this Section, and may stand his or her ground and meet force with force.

D. No finder of fact shall be permitted to consider the possibility of retreat as a factor in determining whether or not the person who used deadly force had a reasonable belief that deadly force was reasonable and apparently necessary to prevent a violent or forcible felony involving life or great bodily harm or to prevent the unlawful entry.

Ya, I mean because the adult thing is to just go call the cops for everything. Screw going out there and asking wtf someone is doing banging on your car that you worked hard for.

FWIW, I said earlier that drugs are awesome. Just wait.

was he "dance walking" while looking upward with a cartoonish grin on his face?

if so I would have shot the bastard too.

I think that's only legal on Halloween.

"He could have been"

"I really don't know"

"Maybe he was...

And then after all the spinning you make a factual statement.

"I don't think"

You can better believe if some a-hole is on my property in the middle of the night and I feel like me or my family is in danger, I'm shooting the SOB. They would be lucky if the get a warning to get off my property first.

The whole thing could have been prevented. Easy. Just stay off other people's property in the middle of the night.

Legal and justified doesn't mean it makes sense.

Guy was killed in Lafayette a while back for swimming naked in someone's pool mid day. Pretty sure he had a gun too though

ANymore to what this erratic behavior was? Hard to tell if it is justified without more info. SHooter would have to be in danger or his life or believe that he was in order to use deadly force. I can imagine instances where he would have been, but several more where it would not be reasonable to be in such fear.

The man that was shot and his fiance'

LINK

quote:

the dead man was Seth Riley Flores, 22. His fiancée, Kirsta Maelyn Flores, confirmed that he was fatally shot in Ozone Woods, the same neighborhood where she said he had been shot about a year earlier.

Flores said the couple, who met on Facebook, had been together six years.

“I wish the police had gotten there sooner," she said tearfully.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the homeowner confronted the man and at some point fatally shot him. The homeowner, who has not been identified, remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Rhonda Bunn, who lives behind the house on Robin Street where the shooting occurred, said her dogs began barking after midnight, waking her up, and she heard arguing. She heard her neighbor yelling for the other man to leave. "Then I heard 'boom, boom, boom' — seemed like five shots," she said.

people don't have a right to defend their property?

Isn't it legal to shoot looters in riot situations? I know this isn't the same but just wondering why it would be ok in one situation and not the other...if it is even legal

Did they ever give any other explanation other than "acting erratically"?
