Investigators found Coulter's fingerprints on the shutters of Landry's home, which had been opened, causing light to shine inside, evidence that backed up Landry's assertion that he feared someone was trying to break into his house, the source said.

You forgot to add this....this proves that the perp was trying to enter the home......

In this case in Slidell, there is nothing stating that that Flores was trying to enter the home..not sure if it matters though

Btw... please post your address so I can tell my kid not to fetch a football or baseball from your yard while playing catch because you might get scared and blow his head off. Thanks!

What crime? A dude in your yard in and of itself doesn't constitute a crime.

Trespassing is a crime, hombre.

Yes I read the story. And I don't think we'll ever know the truth. Shooter would be an idiot if he didn't say the guy lunged at him.

I just don't understand why people feel the need to shoot first when their lives aren't in danger. Call the fricking police.

I'll never understand why people feel the need to be a fricking criminal. Stay out of people's yards after midnight and you won't die. It's really that simple.

If the guy was breaking into, or attempting to break into his vehicle, he doesn't need to!

confirmed that he was fatally shot in Ozone Woods, the same neighborhood where she said he had been shot about a year earlier.

I don't give a shite what the circumstances are. If I get shot somewhere, IL be damned if my arse is caught there again. Especially doing hoodrat shite.

A homeowner fatally shot a man in the front yard of his home in the Ozone Woods subdivision near Slidell just after midnight Monday morning.

And the other case that was mentioned happened at 2:00am.

If your kid loses a ball into someone's backyard that late at night, it just takes some common sense to realize they shouldn't go climbing fences or going into people's backyard in the middle of the night...just go back the next day and knock on the door to ask to get the ball back.

You can easily go from your life not being in danger to dead in less time than it takes to read this sentence.

Untrue actually, unless the shooter was in his car. Louisiana castle doctrine allows you to use deadly force to stop or repel a forcible entry into your home or car, when you are inside of it. You don't have to drag the guy inside, you don't have to plant a knife or gun. All that is required is that he is breaking into the car or dwelling that you are inside of and you can blast away.

If you walk out of your house, find a guy breaking into your car with no one lawfully in it, you cannot shoot him.

But, if the burglar then begins to threaten you and you have a reasonable belief that you are in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm, then it become a stand your ground situation and you can use force, including deadly force to prevent the attack.

Didn't a guy in Nola east years ago shoot a guy breaking in his car from his second story apartment balcony? How was that outcome?
