One of Baton Rouge's best restaurants is in a strip mall (Mansur's).
(Juban's is not bad and it is in a strip mall too.)

Not a surprise, live less than 2 miles from it. Food wasn't good
During lunch it maybe had 3 tables of patrons

well, that didn't take long.. although if walkon's really does open a p'ville location they were doomed anyway.

That's overflow parking from mi padres and other places in that center like Enterprise
Place is usually a ghost town
I know waitresses over there that would only clear 40 bucks on a Friday night dinner shift

So what is it?
Just a doomed location?
I for one feel like the parking is a decent part of the problem.
Is there a lack of willing people to work at places like this in Prairieville?
Does there need to be a college atmosphere around to provide wait-staff?
Do these restaurants not pay people enough, can they afford to if not?
I has so many questions.

Not even Hanny and Ott could keep a restaurant in that spot open!

Prominent strip mall fine dining restaurants in town; Mansur's, Jubans, Little Village (Airline, and Sullivan's.
There are numerous middle of the road type places that are good too. City Cafe', Portobellos (two locations), Bonefish Grill, Walk Ons (TC), Shucks, and many others.

Mi Padres, about 30 seconds away (walking distance) from Slider's has been in their strip mall for years.
And from all indicators, it appears to be doing fairly well.
Having a good product and good service is something that people don't mind coming to and coming back for. Miss one of these and your business is likely to fail.

Not to hijack this thread, but since we have some people in the area posting. Does anyone know what's going in that new shopping center next to Rouses on Airline in Gonzales? I know a Lit Pizza will be there, but I passed this morning and it looks like the whole right side will be one retail store. Please don't say Dollar tree. Lie to me if it is

Dollar Tree appears to being built next to Frank's in Prairieville.
Five Guys is scheduled to go in (last I heard) in the Rouse's shopping center (to be developed).

Bring in a saltgrass and it'll kill. They need a good middle tier steakhouse in the area.

KBB might need to set up shop in there and have 5CC play on Friday nights.

Neighborhood Walmart is across Duplessis next to Rouses. They are talking about the buildings going up on the other side. I heard somebody say Petco but that's all i've heard thus far. Am curious to know any more information also.

The incline into the parking lot is is too much of an angle to get my 300zx into it.
