LP is the place for you then
There's one little ghetto area in DS (around Rodeo Drive) which is basically just a few streets. Otherwise it's almost almost non existent.
ETA - and Eastover trailer park. Don't live near there either.

People are sleeping on WBR. If you can use the old bridge everyday and never have to even think about the new bridge, WBR is for you. There’s some nice new subdivisions there too and it’s not overran with people. Highly underrated for the BR metro area.

I own a house in Southdowns (price 180 sq foot) on a small lot and I have a house in Magnolia Woods subdivision (price $110 sq foot) on a half acre lot. I rent the one in Southdowns because Mag Woods is just a better neighborhood to live in.

I've lived in The Lake at White Oak for nearly 30 years, and I love it.

Garden District, Beauregard town or Spanish Town.

That depends entirely on where said job is, whether or not you have kids, and if so, if you can afford private schools.
For example, working downtown and living in Beauregard or Spanish Town is great if you’re young, but if you can’t afford to send your kids to private school, they’re sool. At the same time, living in Spanish town would be a nightmare if your job was out on Airline near Highland near the new Women’s Hospital.
The best neighborhoods, in my opinion are Downtown (spanish and beauregard), the garden district (perkins overpass, kleinert, and lakeview), mid city (old goodwood, ogden, bernard terrace, country club of br, and capital heights), southdowns, and highland road.
After that, there’s primere golfing communities like country club of la, the U club, and santa Maria.
There’s also affordable safe neighborhoods like Inniswold, broadmoor, Shenandoah, Bluebonnet, and old Jefferson.
If you want to send your kids to public schools, there’s the suburbs like Zachary, Central, Denham springs, Walker, and Prarieville.
If you’re working on the west bank, there’s even decent neighborhoods around Brusly.
If you want water access, there’s New Roads along False River to the north, the Amite Riviera to the southeast, and the Diversion Canal in Ascension parish.
If you’re looking to build and raise kids, I recommend Zachary (if your job is closer to downtown) or Ascension Parish (if your job is closer to Bayou Manchac).

Has a nice suburban feel to it. Wouldn't be a bad commute to the hospitals in SBR. We live relatively close by and I work off of Bluebonnet. It's 15-20 minutes in the morning and 25-30 on the way home most days.
