I take issue with most things ESPN does, but Jimmy V week is not one of them.

And if they want to incorporate Stuart Scott's memory into V week, I have no issue with that either.

I saw a special on last night about Stuart Scott on SportsCenter or something. I was just passing by the tv.

I was a big fan of his. One of my favorites.

Is it the anniversary of his passing or something? Not sure.

Is it that hard to answer someone’s question without being an a-hole?

I don’t think I could have made it any clearer I was seeking knowledge, not bashing what they were doing.

Assholes like you give the internet a bad name.

I relate to this OP

As I get older, I too get annoyed with things in the culture where I'm presumed to understand where they're coming from/what they are/who they are.

It applies to all sorts of things:

"So on Derrick Blasinga's podcast today he said that Lane was in hot water"

WHO THE HELL IS DERRICK BLASINGA

what is a podcast

get off my lawn

so forth

While I hate to agree with Mingo for any reason what so ever, he's not wrong saying you are literally using a machine that if you asked it the question, within seconds you'd have the answer. But this has become very normal on here for some reason. Its prevalent on my FB too with people asking questions like:

"Anyone know a plumber in ________ area?" or

"Anyone know of a mechanic in _________ area?"

Just open the frikkin google app and type in "plumber in (your town and state here).

BOOM! Theres a list of plumbers. Its really not that hard.

To be fair, I listen to a lot of podcasts and have even been on a few for my profession.

Stuart Scott was ESPN's B team. Eisen carried him, until he found his feet, but he was clearly Tier 2.

He died young, and in terrible circumstances with a young family-- but he is often made out to be way more than he was.

At first when I read the name, I was thinking of Stuart Smally.

I found him annoying. Too much boy from the hood schtick with rap slang. He wasn’t any better than any other person at espn. He’s popular because the black guys loved his act and he was one of them. Then he got sick. RIP.

While I agree about simply googling when confronted with things you do not know about on TV or social media, asking about a plumber or mechanic comparison is like comparing apples and oranges. When people ask about plumbers, mechanics, electricians, etc., they are asking about people's experiences and recommendations.

Agreed. He was never on the level of DP or Berman. Not even in the same league.
