Ticket was for 31 in a 20 on Lake Ave. Motorcycle cop hiding behind a tree and dumpster. There's no way I was doing 31, but I didn't argue with him at the time.

I'll give you the best advise upuve ever had on this....
The absolute best way to go about it is to visit or call the fines department, especially in small towns. They want the fine, period. They need the money.
Be very polite and admit to the nice lady that you were in th wrong but cajt afford to have the insurance go up. She'll flat out tell you that she is THE one that forwards that paperwork and she can control that slip never getting processed,
Be courteous, be humble, and offer to pay it on the spot.
In those small towns, they have very nice ladies that simply run the paperwork show...they have the power behind the acenes.
Do this, pay your $100, and move in w life.

Speeding fines are out of control. I haven't seen a $100 fine in my lifetime.

I guess I talked to the wrong person then because Jefferson, Tangi, and St Charles all made me come in to the courthouse with ticket. I'm not saying I don't believe you, I'm just relaying my experience.

Hasn't ever happened to me, and I guarantee I've gotten more tickets in all parishes across the state than you. I've only had mandatory court appearances for 20+ over, and either careless or reckless operation, I can't remember which. Didn't even have to go for a fake brake tag (which I was unaware was fake)

Just get it reduced to a non moving violation so it won't go on your insurance. You will still pay the full amount but at least your insurance will not go up. Go to the courthouse with the ticket and ask for article 894.
These are mutually exclusive. Definitely first ask for a non-moving. If that doesn’t work, then shoot for 894. Also, contrary to what some other posters have said, you have to show up to court in Jefferson Parish if you want to dispute the ticket. Nothing gets done over the phone.

I'm not slowing down, and they like money. No hammer is getting dropped, except for my right foot

Speed enforcement shitbags schedule all their court appearances for like 1 day a month so they only have to go to court on that day.
Incorrect.
Courts set a specific date for traffic court and notify the officers what date to use.

Btw, you're thinking of 892 for misdemeanor traffic violations. 894 is for other misdemeanors IIRC

light the ticket on fire right in front of the cop

This would play out like that scene from “And Justice For All”:
Defendant: “Your honor, I can explain my use of foul language. I’m a diabetic.”
Judge: “I fail to see what being a diabetic has to do with your continual use of foul language in public.”
Defendant: “That’s because you’re a douchebag.”

So, you were going the speed limit at the time?

I didn't mean I had to court in front of the judge, I just had to go to the courthouse any day before the court date to get it reduced. The clerk at the window took care of it every time.

I used to know some JP's of rank (Captains and Lt's ) that would have no problem fixing tickets for you especially if they were issued by Causeway cops on the Jefferson side . They hated those dudes and would bend over backwards to deprive them of their quota. You might have to provide one with some lunch or a later favor if you owned a business but they were all good guys

Depends do you want to get out of the ticket all together or just get it knocked down to non-moving violation?
If #2 then just plead not guilty and then at your court date just speak to ADA right before and he/she will very probably knock it down to brake tag.
I just recently did this in JP. My conversation with the ADA went like this:
ADA: Is your name so and so?
Me: Yes
ADA: You received a speeding ticket on x date for going y over speed limit?
Me: Yes
ADA: I can turn this into a brake tag violation, is that acceptable?
Me: Yes
ADA: Great. Have a nice day. (Types something in computer)
Me: Thank you.
ETA: It is very important to NOT look like a trash bag when you go to court. DRESS ACCORDINGLY!! This actually does matter. If they feel you are NOT respecting the court they tend to be a lot less lenient.

Doesn’t matter... will still show up on MVR as speeding.
