Show me one fricking link where the organizers of St. George even mentioned Baton Rouge's inability to balance its budget as a reason for the need to incorporate a new town before either the signature-gathering rounds or the election itself.

The Central and Zachary efforts faced similar opposition in the courts.
No they did not. The city of Central was fairly easy to pass and get established. The city of Zachary was incorporated in 1889. 133 years ago.

Your ability to lose all credibility on a topic by using so few words is astounding.

There are plenty of new schools being built in Ascension. Come on down.
Unless your house is on pilings, be careful with that invite.

This the truth and people know it…

BR's tax base would have continued to erode either way imo. Maybe STG would have slowed it down a little bit.
I was/am for the effort even though it would probably hurt my property value due to living just on the BR side of the boundary.

So a vote of the people, in a lawful election, has nothing to do with this? Why have a lawful election if you're not going to follow the letter of it?
Exactly you think they would have tried to stop the vote with this lawsuit if this really had merit. If this truly is based on merit and letter of the law all previous incorporations should also be challenged.
Judge had to have been bought. I just can’t see how an incorporated Baton Rouge can be allowed to play victim from an unincorporated area wanting to incorporate just like Baton Rouge already is. Judge either bought or just as ignorant as anyone who actually bought the lie that StG was trying to leave the city of Baton Rouge when it never was part of it.
They are just trying to bleed supporters dry and hope they give up. I hope they continue to fight, but I can see some start to move out of EBR or even Louisiana and just let it burn.
This also changes nothing for Baton Rouge as it’s still going to get worse and worse. It has gotten worse during this fight even as mayor and metro council have been able to keep those sales tax dollars to plug holes in city of BR’s budget. The extra money they siphon from StG and other unincorporated areas isn’t the solution.

The difference is Baker, Zachary, and Central have always been separate communities that decided to incorporate.

I think we need to tar and feather this judge. And then JBE. Then Broome. Then anybody else that wants some.

In his ruling, Coady wrote that the motive of creating a new school district is an “admirable goal.”
“From the testimony, it appears this may still be accomplished by other means despite the misinformation they earlier received, which gave them the impression that a municipality was required to initiate the formation of a new school district,” Coady said in his ruling.
So can it be done or not?
Forming a city is not necessary to form a school district, but StG isn’t just about splitting off as a school district later.
Since splitting off from parish school district still ridiculously requires requires a constitutional amendment each time along with legislative vote to put it up for a statewide vote the original South East Baton Rouge School District supporters were advised by state Senators when voted down that forming a city first might help gain more support from them next time.
One of those offering this advice was then state senator and current Mayor President Sharon Broome.

He's as every bit as terrible at his job as Judge Parker was.

And much like Judge Parker, he is likely to receive “lifetime achievement” awards from surrounding jurisdictions.
It was joked once that Parker was personally responsible for a 50% increase in houses sold in Ascension along with doubling the sales of doublewides and tripling the sales of triplewides in Livingston.
